There is also no word on pricing yet, but there is good chance that the pricing structure will be similar to that of Windows Vista. Currently, Vista Home Basic costs $199.95, Vista Home Premium is $259.95, Vista Home Business costs $299.95, and Vista Ultimate is $319.95. Note these prices are all Microsoft's suggested retial prices and that actual retail prices are usually lower.

Also it seems there is another SKU available - Windows 7 Home Basic which according to Microsoft will only be available in "emerging markets."

the "emerging" thing is probably here :rolleyes: ;

anyways for me the pro would be already good, but probably it will cost alot here :(

Cant we just have:

Windows 7 n00b - UAC enabled, Firewall enabled, prompting on every action, every application installed, tonnes of bloat.

Windows 7 pr0 - Streamlined sleekness, everything turned off/uninstalled by default.

Also the n00b version is twice the price of the pr0 version. n00bs should pay the price of technological ignorance imo :p

+ 1 for this awesome idea :worship:

Jim :worship: Epic, +reps

The starter version is going to be good for workshops etc. though. Lower price while the stripped functionality isn't missed because it would be stripped away anyway.

Looks like I'll be running for a Home Premium or Professional if the mobility center proves to have any use.

At least that explains where the 7 comes from. It's the versions they're releasing.

Win1

Win2

Win3 (and 3.1)

Win4 (Win 95)

Win5 (Win 98)

Win6 (ME)

Win7 (XP)

Win8 (Vista)

Win9 (Win7)

And +1 for the "everything off" version.
