Metro Exodus will support Nvidia's RTX Real-Time Raytracing tech

As Metro Exodus is out in Q3 I guess this solidifies the "leaked" info that new Nvidia GPU's are coming in Q3 as well.

So basically again we are going to have to choose which GPU to buy depending on the games we like the looks of. Which is fine, but it's a bit sad that RT is basically being split up again into factions like everything else. And that makes us all the losers.

That said I would imagine in the first few RT games (unless they've done it from the ground up) then like early DX11 games it may not be really noticeable (think back to Dirt 2).

One thing I do know is that I am not buying a new GPU this year unless I absolutely have to.

Kinda reminds me of the original really. Supported Physx..

It will be far from completely ray traced. Just certain parts, like maybe option for ray-traced AO, rather than SSAO.

Yeah I am thinking like a table lamp and maybe a cigarette lol.

Still, it's definitely about time :) very exciting to know that in a few years games will literally be photo realistic.

Personally I don't think RT will be worth switching on in the supported games, At least not for the next 2+ GPU generations and until we get a HUGE single GPU performance increase.

To be able to pull off a full RT game we need what you saw. Four GPUs, or was it three? and that means a massive shrink beforehand so they can cram it all on there. It's still many years away. However, at least we know that this time it is definitely coming. And that's good enough for me for now tbh. You may also find that Vega can actually RT where as Nvidia basically cut all of that off of Pascal. This may be interesting..

Whichever way you look at it, and even if it's not as good, Vulkan is the way forward. Simply because it should run on both vendors. Gameworks? Monopoly Works.

We all know as soon as you see something pretty you'll pounce on it and buy multiple cards to play;)

I've already got money ready for the next gen, I'll be getting the 2080 or whatever the next top end chip is called then the inevitable 2080 Ti after that ^_^

Not in my opinion; such a link seems a bit far fetched to me as a game release and new hardware release aren't intertwined. We may as well have the hardware before and ready to go.
