Metro Exodus Snagged By Epic Games Store - Game To Be Removed From Steam

While I'm annoyed by this, I'm glad as well since it is showing Steam that they are getting too greedy with their takes from each sale. At the same time though, Deep Silver have shown their greed by not dropping the prices at all in favour of more profit. But I suppose that might be because people who have already paid via Steam would kick off.

But regarding the train wreck analogy, this will hurt sales. Especially given how close to release they've decided to pull this stunt.

So many people crying in the comments on Facebook, It's hilarious, It's like witnessing children throwing tantrums ^_^

The OC3D Facebook comments sections are always pretty cringe but yeah the fact we're at a point where people are boycotting genuinely viable competitors to maintain a problematic monopoly gives little hope for the future of PC gaming imo. One single company literally gets 30% of the money these people spend on the gaming industry, and then people complain games today aren't worth their prices, maybe if the actual content creators were getting the money rather than the store front & publishers there'd be a little more of the money to invest in the games.

I mean most people play fortnite. It's literally all within the same launcher. So why they complain is beyond me. It's just a few more clicks.

"I won't play the game if it's not on Steam. Simple as."

...says the guy who'll still buy the game on the Epic store but wants to sound rebellious and forward thinking on Facebook for his mates to see.

It only annoys me that I now have to install another application for the odd game, I don't like too many of those installed :D

Other than that, good for 4A!

Understandable but most people play fortnite so they already have it downloaded so it doesn't make sense for most people to complain:p

Oh yeah you said and are right. I don't have it and didn't mean it as a complaint, just a state of fact for me personally. I'll get it wherever it's on, hands down!

Steam was and is a great idea. I love it. The unification of everything was so cool. But with all that 'unification' comes the usual over-economising. That's fine for a while, but eventually it starts to encroach and become annoying. Steam is no different than any other company given such circumstances. It seems that no matter how endearing and sound a company starts out, success drives them to want more. King Solomon said, "A lover of silver will never be satisfied with silver, nor a lover of wealth with income." I know and respect many people don't believe the Bible, but the statement fits.

That's me screwed as my key was Steam.

Bolacks.

Not really, If you have a key it will still redeem just fine on Steam, Just means anyone wanting to buy it has to go through Epic, Not really an issue as long as you have 300MB of free space on your drive for the launcher.

Epics launchers probably the smallest, cleanest & most minimal one there is to be fair, and you can log in with any console/google/facebook account, I'd say it sets an example for what Steam & Origin should be like.

But, you can still launch any game installed via the Epic Store(Or any other store) from Steam and have it in your local library without issue, as well as using many of the Steam specific features still like streaming & the controller system.

One thing that's cool about it, for any budding developers, is it also grants you direct access to install the Unreal Engine SDK, which nowadays is super easy to get started with, almost Unity tier.

I don't like store exclusivity. I can understand it if the store is owned by the creators of the game, but even then I don't like it. And it seems like Epic is deliberately enticing developers to remove their games from Steam, which would be yet another practice that I can't support. But I wasn't planning on buying this game anyway. So far this doesn't affect me.

I doubt Epic are forcing or persuading developers to allow people to give them less money for their games, I think the whole guaranteed more money thing kinda does that on its own, because lets be honest, just as with fairtrade products & such, few people actually value fair money distribution over minor inconveniences, so it makes sense for the developers to not want to give people the option of paying them less for their work despite paying the same price.

This is exactly why I quit all Facebook groups when I deleted my old account and then opened a new one nearly three years later. I haven't even liked one single page.

Edit to add. I noticed that this game has gone up £3 on the CDkeys store and is now an epic key. That means they know, and haven't cancelled my pre order so hopefully I will be getting an epic key instead.

Dom - yeah 300mb is fine. I have a 200gb boot drive and it's pretty much empty right now :)
