hey guys, i bought some gskill pc4400 lestuff that does 2-2-2-5 at 200mhz and 2.5-3-3-7 at 275mhz anyway i cant get it to run properly, even at 2-2-2-5 @ 2.7v on my asus board @ stock cpu speeds and running the chip at 1.5v dont help either and yes im on latest bios, it wont do prime for more than 3 mins  . At 2.5-3-3-7 it will run fine at 200mhz but wont run @ 8 x 275 mhz which is still 2.2ghz which my 3500 runs @ , what u recon dodgy memory or board or not enough volts although i heard the asus board is naff for over clocking @ 1t @ high fsb's but best for sli due to amount of sapce between cards, what do i do??

Phil

*edit forgot specs*

3500+ 2x 256 skill pc4400 le, 6800gt, asus a8n sli deluxe, ultra x connect psu, 74gb raptor and nec 3540

coolign wise

2x 120.1's, tdx, d4 pump, innovtek fass-o-matic, maze 4 chrome

also another prob i forgot to mention could it be that im not runing a 24 pi connector on teh mobo and only a 20 atm? also woudl this bring up a message in windows about my 6800gt not getting enough poeer even though it has teh pci-e connector?

There are issues with 20pin PSU's in 24pin mobos, I don't remember what they are but it can't help I think you can purchase adaptors though.

IT could be that you just do not have enough juice going to al lthe components, describing to error mesage you get regarding the 6800's it sounds the most like issue.

Try whacking 2.9v in the RAM and see how that effects the overclock?

I know there is an issue on the ASUS SLI mobo where you can't overclock above 240fsb using 1t timings - this could be aprt of the problem.

Try using the latest beta BIOS to see if that helps.

Always best to have a mate who can test your kit on their system to help rule these problems out by using individual components in another machine.

Good luck

lol any 1 fancy testing some ram? its gskill iv heard good reports on it e.g. ment to b able to do 2-2-2-5 @ 220 fsb @ 2.65v. it 2x 256 ment to be good i only got 512 as i wanted to test teh stuff before i spent £200 on a full gig

also just bougth a 20 to 24 pin ultra x cable see if that sorts it

Phil

Hey Phil, if you haven't sent that package and you want me to test the ram, if the new cable doesn't sort it, that is, I'm happy to do that, and you could send it along with the rest...

That ram will take some testing to determine the right voltage for it, every set of tccd like a different voltage, so just keep switching 2.6 up to 3.1v until you find it's spot...

My corsair likes 2.8...nothing else, and will hardly boot at anything over or under, but will run to 325 with that specific voltage, so keep trying until you find it's voltage, and you might find it MUCH easier to get the clocks..

That ram should be able to get 300+ at 2.5-4-3-7/8 or so, so keep pluggin' :)

quick screeny to prove that the 24 pin cable has made it stable

stable.jpg

not a mega o/c but that was using the asus on board overclock facility, i think the fact it passed 12k means its stable what you think?

Phil

rigth well its official im stable at those speeds did some more benching while at colledge did 6 hours on blend and 4 hours on large fft's and to me thats fine!!

Currently my graphics is still been gay as no connecter for pci-e has come yet :( so every tiem i clock higher the screen seams to go back then normal every time i click something which i think is to do wit power obviously)

i think 2.5/6ghz is reachable and temps are 40°c load even with temps as they are at tehmo i.e. ambient temp of 24°c in my room

also super pi is 37 seconds which i aint sure how it rates, although memory is @ 2.5-4-4-8 which is a bit naff i think ill try 2.5-3-3-7 :P *edit* now @ 2.5-3-3-7 36 seconds (that proves mem timings do make a diff)

When connector come and i get card running properly ill get benching i recon with 2.5/6ghz and gt at 420/1100 ill do well in 3d mark i hope

Phil

rigth not at 2.6ghz prime stable so far but running it for about 8 hours this time as i dont wanna go over 240fsb as the asus board is naff for o/cing over that fsb at 1:1 timing also got 34 sec super pi and ram timings at 2.5-3-3-7 with cpu volts @ 1.5 also just got 5730 in 3dmark 05 with graphics at ultra speed

Going good i think

screeny tomoz as im off to work now
