Medieval 2: Total War problem!

I'm playing Medieval 2: Total War and i've encountered a snag. I'm being attacked and have maybe 30-40% of my original forces remaining (i'm in a besieged city). The enemy has greater numbers left, but they aren't attacking me. Save sacrificing my troops, what can I do?

Ah yes. There is an unfortunate ending in some sieges with the battle timer turned off.

Unless u can entice them into coming out, ur pretty stuck, and really resigned into quitting the siege. (i.e. exit and the game makes up an ending where u lose)

Enticing them to attack u can be handy when u run out of sieging weapons and tools, as it's sometimes possible to get troops to run into the settlement whilst the enemy opens the door to get out. U kinda have to select them and right click like mad to make them run in there and ignore the opponents. Sometimes they goto white flag, but if u manage to get in, and if the enemy runs back to the center of the settlement, u can get ur troops to own that point of entry and flood inside.

Very very tricky to do, and can expend alot of casualties.

But, yes, the stalemate situation is very much a case of the stubborn man versus the end-battle selection.

Thanks for the advice XD

I eventually managed to win by doing almost exactly that. But they attacked me with another army 2 turns later and i lost the city XD

If ya need any more help give me a collar, I believe the month on July was spent conquoring the entire map :D

Sounds like the enemy has the drop on you, retreat a little, regain strenths and that way you don't have to wait 3+ turns to take a city, take 2 large armies, get the job done in 2 turns, send in spys and assassins to just raise hell! Everyone loves castle gates opening for your massives armies to take a city
