Me thinks I need a new psu

Ok so roughly 2 years ago I bought the AX850 from Corsair its been a great psu. But I think it has an issue and I need to RMA it. I dont want to wait on a replacement so I'm looking to get a new one and I'll just sell off the RMA once I get it. Now Been seeing alot of talk on here about the RM series of psu's. I havent really kept up with the latest on psu's as I've never really needed to as I normally buy the best and dont have to lol. Anywho whats the thoughts these days on best psu.

Oh and I dont need a debate on wattage needed or anything like that. I'm an overclocker and overkill is not something I'm overly worried about.


FYI the issue I'm having is simply whenever I try and use a 4th sata power cable (or molex) the system wont boot. I'm using the 24 pin and 8pin obviously both pci-es for 2x8pin and 2x6pin one molex and 2 sata cables. Due to the config of my new case I'd really like to add a 3rd sata to make it look better but as I said no matter which I try it wont power up (I mean computer will not boot) Also I'm wanting to add a couple more dives to make my rig dual as a htpc whilst I'm not gaming.

Common problem(even i have) with PSUs made by Seasonic. Which the AX series are(not the platnium ones i think?) and i recently bought the AX760 80+ Plat. and no issues at all. Though with 2 7970s i would suggest a RM1000/ax1200 simply because its pretty cheap and overkill, won't ever have to worry

your ax 760 is made by seasonic too.

going to rm series would be a downgrade. if you want overkill go with a super flower 1000W psu.golden king or leadex series. its the only one who compares with seasonic in terms of quality and performance and then you can say you made an upgrade

appreciate the comments guys. In the end I just went with an advanced RMA, with budget being a tad tight atm and other parts coming for my Enthoo Primo Changing out my Alphacool repack dual d5 dual bay rez for a FrozenQ 250mm blue spiral helix reservoir with a single d5 and adding a 240mm Monsta rad going to try and tidy up my loops by going single loop. I know I dont need the extra rad but the price was right and my case will fit it and it wont be seen

lol shipping to the UK would be astronomical besides I'm not buying a new one now just went with advanced rma so they'll send me a new one and I send back my old one.

Good bit of info as I'm looking to up from my TX650M to ease the demand of a 2nd gpu (hd7870 & R9 270x - crossfire compatible too) even though I've heard my 650 is enough just don't want to chance it.
