Mayhems Pastel Coolant

I have heard about plasticizer issues with this coolant. Could someone who has used/encountered this coolant before tell me if they have had any issues with it.

Thanks

Masterkleer and XSPC hose is fine.

The plasticiser comes out of certain hoses when it reacts with the coolant.

Im using Mayhems & Masterkleer in Orca :)

Mayhems blue and orange with Tygon R3603 and fine here. It stains it a bit but no issues with plasticizer

Thanks a lot for the re assurance. I have gone ahead with the order. I really don't mind staining as I replace the tubes with every clean anyways.

Someone lead me to think on another forum that the coolant had issues.

True, I guess we'll see :P I certainly don't have time to do it now, you keep me far too busy in my 'free' time... ;)

Sorry for the necro but its relevant.

I just saw what happened to your Pastel coolant in orca. I have already bought the pastel coolant but would you still say its safe to use in my system. I may just use distilled water anyway after hearing what happened.

The "representative" of Mayhems did not sound very caring in the comments under your post.

What tubing do you have?

If the answer is not: "magical tubing from space"

I would get rid of the pastel like I did last night.

Or you can get similarly coloured tubing so that the pastel looks good in a tube res or w/e (that is assuming it stays the right colour, which mine did)

Wait so you got rid of you pastel coolant even though it stayed the same colour. I am worried about plasticizer issues mostly. But the support from mayhems seems terrible and now that TTLs pastel coolant has gone down the drain I am worried about putting it in my system and then having to spend a weekend draining, pulling waterblocks apart, cleaning and re-filling.

Dump Mayhems junk,he is so unprofessional its a joke.

If the loop is a flushed as TTL flushed it then flux (the source of the mystical acid) is gone, any impurities present are from the fluid.
Ice Dragon, the makers of the pastel base fluid dont have the issues that Mayhems has, this might be down to the less than scientific method of production (his shed) or his workforce (his kids)
He even struggles to get colours correct even with the same product.

Its a shame I have already bought the coolant. I will try to return it (I doubt he will accept) or sell it on.

Everyone seemed so positive about it before.

I got rid because I have yet to find 13/10mm clear tubing that doesn't 'leech plasticizer' when you run pastel through it. (For all I know it could be deposits from the pastel itself.)

I switched to coloured tubing (black) and decided: "what's the point in running this guff if I can't see it?"

As part of my project log I am moving back to clear tubing and looking for a suitable clear coolant to *maybe* add dye to.

CBA to take pics, but I have 3 types of tubing on my floor that I just tore out:

masterkleer clear + pastel black = dull brown stain
masterkleer black + pastel black = white residue
clearflex60 clear + pastel black = thick white residue

Yeah I think I'm going to go with pure water. I wonder if TTL got his money for the coolant back after he went public about it.
