Max current for Asus Forumla IV Fan header

Hi,

I want to wire 4x gentle typoons 1850rpm fans to my motherboard so i can use the Q-Fan software.

My question is can i wire all 4 to the cpu fan header, or 2 to the cpu fan header and another 2 to a chassis header?

here is the bit about fan headers in manual:

Fan connectors support cooling fans of 350 mA-2000mA (24 W MAX.) or a Total of 1 A-7 A (84 W max.) at 24V.

I would advise against using the mobo fan headers in such a way like this. As youre taking from the other power req's for the mobo and pci-e slots. best simple suggestion is get a fan controller and be done with it.

I used all my fan headers once and notice my oc became unstable due to the extra draw from the fans now I currently only have one fan attached to mb and its solely for cpu rpm so I dont have to tweak the bios

ah just the speed controllers I've tried all make buzzing noises which really annoy me, plus I wanted the ability for the fans to speed up automatically I will run prime again after I've hooked it all up to see if anything happens.

Going to attach 2 fans per header as the gentle typoons have a 0.8A and each header can take 2A as I understand so I can fit 2 per header.

just make sure ya plug in any extra power ya can to the board. IIRC those ROG boards have molex on the pcb for extra power. hears me praying you dont fry ur mobo hooking up all those fans to it.

board can take 7A of fans i will be running 4.6A max and most time fans run around 30% sometimes reach 45% when playing BF3 so maybe pulling 3A from board seem safe to me.

Cant find a molex to plug into on board there isnt one on the formula 4 is there?

I have had 2 180mm fans. and 4 120mm fans running off the board just fine. Now i have 4 120mm fans and a pump running off of it. and no problems at all.

I think the molex conectors are on on the maximus, and rampage, and they are just to provide extra power to the gpu's for overclocking. using the ez plugs.

dont get me wrong I'm not saying it cant be done just that well its gonna take power from other components as well. (on the mobo) seeing as ya have a decent oc thats also taking amps as well. Just be careful mate is all i'm suggesting. I know you had a long road before you finally got a running rig would hate to see it all go bust.
