Nope you're fine at that temp mate. IIRC the rule of thumb on the A64's / Opty's was not to exceed 60*c.

Mr. Frag is right.. Although if you want the chip to live longer.. I would suggest keeping it cooler! ;)

At those temperatures and no outside interference you can expect that cpu to outlive most housepets......

As Frag said, 60*C is a good guideline for most chips as a maximum sustained temperature, the chip will withstand higher but then your looking at possible longterm damage

sry pv :( :eyes:

well on the topic , i had an amd at that voltage and stock cooler and i even reached 70 sometimes but those temps are fine

60 degrees sounds about right, even way back I can remember cpus giving really unstable results around 65.

Work ok for a long while, but then out of the blue u`d get a restart or something... cpu cools down a bit.. then the cycle continues.

how come i get a 2 c difference in temps core #0 41 core # 1 43

I might be wrong but I read that the memory controller runs hotter than the rest on the core logic on a dual core A64/Opteron/FX. Since there is only one memory controller it might be located closer to Core 1.

60*C as a guideline sounds good too.

That temp is fine. Up to 65 Orthos is fine for 24/7 AMD Dual Core.
