some do, galaxies for example do at 60 degrees there are signs of throttling and it scales up from there.

but when I flashed my BIOs using the 500/1400 they did not (or at least not as bad) but then I did run it with the side panel off with a desk fan blowing into the case - see gollums rig in the phase gallery for details of the set-up us benchers use.

I guess Riva could be used to check while the GPU is under load? The speeds graphs should show the change. I`ve seen the option in Nibitor to change the throttle temperatures? A quick BIOS hack might help.

What temp are your 7800s then Fatty? I'm siuprised they are above 60C as they generally run pretty cool.

They run at around 65 or so full load but they throttle I might try different drivers etc someone said a while ago it could be a combination of mobo drivers and g/card drivers???

Nah can't see that me self - but graphics drivers maybe, try 78.01's mate.

BIOS Flash cured it for me.

Easy to do mate and I can customise a BIOS for you to use so set tehm at say 1350/450.

60 degrees is warm though mate, can you improve the airflow around the cards? I put a 120mm fan at teh back blowing air across the back heat heatsinks and the coolers, also removed the PCI blanking plate between the two cards to allow the hot air to flow out the back of the case.

Cheers will see what I can do I havent stuck new thermal compound on the cards either so may do that

Its just odd that they only played up since the mobo swap

Get a couple of third party heatsinks on them mate, like the Arctic Cooler 5. Work a treat! The 7800GT in the Tempest was only 45 degrees tops under load. Or better still - watercool them!

Chilling is only good for volt modded cards (or at least it was for me) - watercooling would be fine.

Use a single 120mm rad PA120.1 and stylish fan (or two quiet jobs) set in push/pull) from phil with some maze 4 acetal Low Profile blox and tweakmonster ramsinks.

The arctic cooler is a real squeeze in sli, I kinda like the new reference cooler used on the Quadro series and Leadtek units too.

The temps can be misread depending on the GPU drivers used.
