Massive price drops for Intel Dual Cores.

Also had to learn that the editor didn't work with VB code :( I am so used to just typing it all out and it working. Now I have to do it the easy way and click the button to get it to work :( Hehe

How has dual core support in applications taken off?

Will XP know to take advantage of dual core, or do you need applications to be written specifically for it?

XP's Task Manager is great at assigning programs to the right core imo

Games are beginning to get dual core support - Quake is notably faster with dual core :)

There is a windows hotfix for dual cores and amd also has a patch for them. Before installing those patches I used to see an occasional "Stutter" in game play and other apps. Now there is no difference other than everythign runs SMOOTH! I love being able to do multiple things at one time.

CSS isn't optimised for dual cores - although you still shouldn't have stuttering - unless you set the graphics options too high of course :p

You still need the hotfixes. It is a problem with the x2's and opterons. Here is what you need to do to install the drivers correctly.

2 - read this website and download the hotfix....READ here ........Download here

3 - Edit your registry to enable the HOTFIX, follow these steps.

a. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.

b. Right-click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager, point to New, and then click Key.

c. Type Throttle for the new key name.

d. Right-click Throttle, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.

e. Type PerfEnablePackageIdle for the value name.

f. Right-click PerfEnablePackageIdle, and then click Modify.

g. In the Edit DWORD Value box, type 1. In the Value data box, make sure that Hexadecimal is selected, and then click OK.

h. Quit Registry Editor.

4 - Make sure your BOOT.ini has this command in it, /usepmtimer to check, right click on My Computer go to properties, click on the ADVANCE tab, then under startup and recovery click on settings, then click on EDIT....make sure your boot.ini looks like this

[boot loader]

timeout=30

default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S

[operating systems]

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /usepmtimer
