Making a modular PSU...

Well...I`m considering making my Tagan into a modular effort. I`ve posted on an engineering forum about noise and signal loss at the terminals, am waiting for a reply. Guess this is what lack of money and too much caffeine does to ya.

Any opinions?

nah, good idea, i've got the 480-uo1 and there are quite a few cables i dont need, so be nice to see how it turns out

Good luck, I would assume that as long as you used similar type connections to those used in modular PSU then it shouldnt be an issue.

As long as your not trying to build a PSU

Just remove the cables you don't need. Job done.

Adding connectors is a bad, bad thing to do. In electronics and electric faults it is well known knowledge that most of the time the fault is with a connection. Avoid them at all costs. These modulars are for show purposes, and are not really functional - I know; I own one!

Well....I aint just gonna cut off the cables I dont need and tape the ends... I might need them one day. Plus..resale value= zero if I do that.

Will have a look in Maplin tomorrow and see whats there thats pretty streamlined.

Sell the Tagan and get a UXC or Hiper?

Seems easier to junk the Tagan and get a Hiper Modular 580w

I`ll go with the sensible answers and buy a modular PSU. Though....not OCZ, cant afford them. UXC or Hiper it is

HEH...HAUD THA BUS! Tagan have modular PSUs out!

The U15 series..they come in 430, 480, 530 and 580W varieties. Still to find out who stocks them, but they exist... who was it that said if Tagan made modular PSUs they`d be perfect??!?
