hi guys, its my turn to have a computer that fucks up all over

ok so i was playing css this afternoon and my network connection started to drop out ( wired ) every 5 seconds or so then reconnect then disconnect it self, i check my router and it was fine, wasnt happening on any other computers,

so i checked my settings and everything, it was all fine,

1. i reformatted it, didnt change a thing - network connection didnt even show up properly - even after drivers where installed

2. the nf4 chipset drivers installed properly but still to no avail the net connection didnt show up.

3. tried the nf4 drivers from dfi's website - didnt work at all.

4. i tried my laptop on the ethernet cable and it worked fine, just to check if there was any breaks in the cable under my house.

5. i tried to put in a old pci ethernet card in - then computer didnt boot up.

6. tried upgrading firmware on router - didnt work either

7. i also noticed that my case LED fans werent as bright, it could be my psu possibly - because when in my bios i noticed my 12v rail was dropping to 11.78volts.

im at a really great loss here guys, :(

specs are:

amd 3700+ sandiego

dfi lanparty nf4 sli-dr

6800ultra

ocz powerstream 520watt

im thinking i should try updating my bios

Edit: i was just experimenting with my onboard sound and it seem the drivers for that as well are caput, it looks as if everything has been succesfully installed. but when it restarts nothing changes

Have you got a spear PSU you can try then?

This will probably sound stupid but have you tried cuting the power to your router for a few minutes? This always sovles my network problems for some reason, i think the router get stuck in a loop. What router are you using?

well im up for trying anything at this stage, i sure will try it. allthough i think ive narrowed it down to not be my router.

my router is a linksys wrt54GS

When you say the connection doesn't show is it coming up with the little 'network cable unpluged' icon in the taskbar? or is it not registering the port on the motherboard?

nope it dosent say that, yet there is no connection at all :(

So the port isn't beeing recognised? Have you got anything you can unplug to cut down the power usage? Checked the ethernet port is enabled in the bios? Or try disabling then re-enabling it?

Im just thorwing ideas at you now, igonre anything you think wont work....

K i'm still trying to figure out what exactly you're saying the problem is here... Does your computer show that you're connected and everything is ok yet when you try and connect to the net, etc you get nothing?

Or is your computer no longer recognizing your onboard NIC?

My computer shows that there is an NIC but it wont connect to anything at all even after multiple driver installs and bios updates

and it is enabled in the bios

Ok so it shows it's there it just won't make a connection to the net? That's a tell-tale sign of a busted NIC if you've reinstalled drivers and made sure it was enabled in the BIOS.

Only thing I could really suggest would be formatting / dual booting another OS to see if it works there, if it doesn't then you know that it's gone kapoot on ya.

Wirelessly posted (Nextel BB7520: BlackBerry7520/4.0.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

It could always just be windows being gayly homoerotic like it can be.

now thats just very grown up, saying windows is gay.......

on the back of the ethernet port there is a light that lights up when it has power, and it flashes when data is flowing, can you check if either of these are true.

nabber you may just have to accept Frag, he doesnt mean to be rude, but his opinions are very outspoken, and im sure we can all agree windows "has its faults". soemtimes its just easier to exagerate and flame someone/thing

Well someone once told me that, and i quote "Get XP, because it rapes Windows ME up the ass".

Sounds gay to me :)
