I was gonna come on here immediately equipped with the negatives that are about this system.

However.

I would prefer to hold judgement until I see this £650 unit put up against a unit an enthusiast is capable of building - perhaps even non-ion based - perhaps totally AMD based.

As a gaming pc compared to a console build, I think the market is there. The question for me is the price tag.

Right at this minute I see some1 who's not an enthusiast, as they in general see through the green thing, and perhaps would buy this after parking up their 10 mpg vehicle outside.

Lose the LL, lose the green tag, and a few hundred may come off this.

Comparison required for me.

It's got a two compartment system with the PSU on one side and everything else on the other.

I'm quite taken by it TBH. It's a really nice case with plenty of customization options. Be interesting to see if these Zotac "ECO" cards are actually green though, rather than just marketing gimmicks.

That should not be considered a gaming PC it would struggle with Doom 2.

Why? As far as I'm aware the ION chipset isn't that much of a bottleneck, and with a 9800GT + Core2Duo it beats my rig in terms of graphics power and I play plenty of games fine....

would be better if "normal" components such as what we buy could come in energy efficient models

if not to save the world - at least cut down the energy bill

Even ignoring the "gimmicky green thing", it's a nice case and a very small setup for a pretty reasonable price

Well that's crazy too.

They're selling the unit on the basis of being the greenest gaming platform and there's nothing out there to say even "it'll play CS @ 60fps with a 9600" - even.

It goes up to an 9800GT

Seeing as, as far as I'm aware at least, it hasn't actually been released yet, just announced, I'm fairly sure reviews will pop up pretty soon

They are known for making some good systems though.
