a few days ago i posted a thread about my pcie bus not running in 16x but running in 8x. i have just recived my new board MA790FX-UD5P and this one is also running @8x it cant be the same fault on two boards the only thing i can now think of is it it the graphics card (GTX275). i have started the rma but before i send it back has anyone got anymore ideas about what it could be i have a new 4870x2 comming tomorrow to try,it wont have anything to do with a nvidia card on an AMD chipset could it

many thanks for any replys.

Flicking through the manual...

All I can say really is make sure the pcie clock is 100mhz (perhaps make it that instead of auto)

Be sure the card is in the pcie slot nearest the cpu. This is the only 16x slot on the mobo, the other1 is labeled 8x.

Make sure the display selector is on PEG (which is the 16x slot nearest the cpu) - PEG1 is the 8x slot beneath it.

If that don't work, I don't see anything than a newer bios upd8 that may correct a problem we don't know about.

im sure i will find out tomorrow when the 4870x2 comes,as far as i know that needs the full bandwidth to run propley.

you dont think it could be a windows 7 thing do you

I was just thinking to myself that it could be the util that's at fault in some way. Reporting in error.

I'd bench something and see if the result seems ok.

If ur using GPU-z, try a newer or different version. If not, try GPU-z :p

i think it is truly running in 2.0 x8 because my friend has a phenom 9850 @ stock and gtx 260 stock and is beating you by a 1000

i must have taken the boards out of the equation now because they are both saying 8x both benchmarks were done on windows 7 the only things that are left are the card and chip
