M.2 SSD Cooling Upgrade with Aquacomputer Kryo

I have the original Kryo m.2 pcie cooler and it keeps my samsung polaris m.2 at around the 30c mark so it is worth it. Not sure about the orange lighting though, wouldn't match my rig. An RGB or white/blue one however.....:)

Tom

With all this talk about the heat generated by M.2 Drives is it ok to use one as a Boot Drive ? It would seem that such duty would put quite The Load on the little suckers.

Boot drives are the best use for these drives because of the speed. Some M.2 are much hotter than others though thats why I tested two different ones in the video :)

In your opinion, Tom, how necessary is it to get the smaller one for let's say the Samsung 960 Evo? - 12C on the Corsair, calling me impressed!! Very tempted to get both the SSD and the block (only about a tenner, roughly I think) ASAP.

Saw your review for these the other day and just bought one! super cheap shipping to the US as well. They seem like a great company and can't wait to get the smaller clip version for my MP500. Thanks Tom for the great review as always!

I know I may be asking a totally stupid question here, but can an m.2 drive still fit underneath a GPU with the Kryo attached?

How much was the shipping for you? I want one but I'm on West coast so I'm much farther than you are from the UK

Got mine in the mail today(The smaller version) was shipped 5/4 so I'm super happy it didn't take forever. I'm not seeing a giant temp difference, roughly 8-9c @load, much better idle temps, mine is mounted above the GPU. Mounting on the MP500 was not fun, took taking a pair of padded pliers to get the clip mount on both sides even in the middle mounting as per Tom's video, Oh well i'm happy and for the price you really can't go wrong.

For what they do, they do it well, but is it needed? The max operating temperature of the Samson 960 M.2s are listed at 70 degrees celsius. I've never seen mine go above 47 degrees celsius.

I did try to add a waterblock to mine, but the fittings I used didn't allow me to fit it into my rig. I was mainly doing it for aesthetics, and to say I had one watercooled, but I think I will leave that as a later addition, if I need it.

Will I be able to fit 2 of the larger ones on my Rampage edition 10, my boot drive which is mounted on the boards slot behind the graphics card is idling at 54°C and jumps to to 73°C when transfering large files between the 2 m.2 drives. The other one located in the bottom PCIe slot idles at 39°C but does go up to 70 and throttles
