Low spec office PC

Hey guys,
my father's starting a new business and he is in need of an office PC that will be on a budget but able to run efficiently programs like LibreOffice and maybe a warehouse logging software/inventory in the future.

The question is, shall I opt for an Athlon 5350 or go for an Intel Celeron G1840?

The rest of the build is going to be pretty straightforward, a motherboard that is going to be on the budget side but not to cheaply made, 4GB of RAM, a vs350 corsair psu, the cheapest 120GB ssd I can find and also a case that is not a cardboard box :p

For now the OS I'm planning to use is Linux-based. Either Ubuntu Unity or Gnome or Linux Mint.

The Celeron seems to be a bit of a better buy. It benches slightly higher, and the LGA 1150 chipset will leave a lot more room for growth than AM1 if he needs some more gumption in the future.

For motherboards I recommend Asus or Gigabyte, and will say steer clear of AsRock. Get whatever's a good price for where you are.

For the rest of the stuff, I'd say just get whatever's cheapest, looks nice, and has a good company behind it and decent reviews. Steer clear from the 840 evo though. I've had problems with mine and apparently I'm not alone.

And finally, I've been happy playing around with the Mint Cinnamon distro, but I'm no expert in Linux.

Anyways, that's my two Canadian cents. So like, 1.4 Euro cents? I do my best though.

Hardware to be fair for that sort of workload I would probably say go AMD if you plan to use Linux, they provide a full Catalyst suite for the APU with good control over graphics options and support. I would also recommend sticking in a mech drive for keeping a backup if it is for business use.

Linux wise, any Ubuntu distro is good, Unity is just a UI overlay for GNOME. My advice if you are not familiar with command line usage is to use Unity as it covers almost all requirements you will need in a simple graphical interface.

Thanks folks I'll eventually go for the celeron chip, my father told me to go for windows (ill buy off the redddit) and I thought that if there is a need down the line I'll just have to upgrade to an i3 no need to buy a new motherboard
