low fps in BF3

Hey guys I need your help

I have a 6970 and was always able to play BF3 in 1080p with ultra settings at 40-60 fps.
The last weeks I didn't play BF3 because of my final exams, however as a played today I suddenly got very low fps, it wasn't really playable anymore. Even when the fps counter showed about 30 fps it was actually about 10 fps. What worries me the most is that this happend not only when a lot of other players were around me and there were explosion, but just at random moments.

What do you guys think, is my graphicscard broken?

Update: I tested the GPU with furmark, and there I got the same fps as I got before when BF3 ran just fine.

Could it be your internet connection that is causing the issues? Have you tried any other games (multi/single) or the single player mode for BF3 to rule out the internet connection?

There were some problems with the servers last night which were causing massive lag and stuttering. That might have been the cause of it, I was having really bad performance probs my self last night.

What are your system specs?

Also are you just talking about the base BF3 game or as you've not played for a week have you just bought the Close Quarters expansion maps that was just released ?

Yes as sieb said there was huge lag problem last night for a lot of people.

I have now played some single player and this works very well, I'm now gonna test some different servers to find out whether it's my internet connection or the problem that SieB wrote about.

Try a punkbuster enabled server and a none punkbuster one. As on the bf3 forums they are saying the lag in game could be getting caused by an issue related to punkbuster.

alot of people in games have been complaining of lag I'm not seeming to get it and I have a similar system with the NVIDIA equivalent (basically) of your card. Like the above post said many are blaming PunkBuster.

Yes seems to be a punkbuster problem, tried servers with and without it. In the ones without PB I don't get any lags.

So that is why my 690 was having FPS drops. I was like wtf is going on xD

After a while though my problems went away.

Seems to fixed now, even better than it was before for me, i'm lagging a hell of a lot less than normal.

Anyone who is still getting probs, update Punkbuster. Apparently this has fixed it for a few people who are still having issues.

What others have said plus:

Don't use furmark to test your card with! It overrides the cards power limits and will hurt it.
