Looking for water cooling part suggestions

Hey guys, first time on the OC3D forums :D

So, I'm thinking about building a new rig keeping to a red/black theme and want some advice on what water cooling parts I could use along with it. Though I probably wont be building it for a while yet.

So far, I'm set on using an NZXT Switch 810 (in black) as the case. I'll then be using an AMD FX-8150 Processor, an ASUS Crosshair V Forumla board (for the red/black theme) and hopefully an XFX 7970. The idea is to have an AMD system, thus the red/black theme.

I would like to water cool the CPU and GPU in this system. The case supports a triple 120mm rad in the roof which I would like to make use of with 120mm Corsair SP fans. I'm also looking to use red tubing or dye and preferably a single bay res, but I can fit a dual in. It would also be good if I can use some nice looking fittings too that keep in with the red/black theme but its not a big issue.

If anyone has any suggestions of suitable water cooling parts for this, that would be awesome, thanks :D

Welcome to the forums

XSPC Raystorm waterblock
XSPC Razor 7970
RX360 in the roof
with the XSPC dual bay res for a D5 pump (then obviously the D5 pump :P )

That alone would be sufficient to cool your CPU and GPU - but you may want to add another 240mm rad in the floor or front to keep better temps.

Alternatively you can buy the XSPC kit:

And swap out the fans and fittings for ones of your choice - then buy the waterblock for the GPU separately.

Have you already bought the parts?

Thanks for that :D
I have not yet bought any parts for this rig, wanting to have everything planned out first :)

At the moment I am looking to build an AMD system, though I am only planning at this time and may change to Intel if I have enough budget left, though currently I'm not sure on the budget but I'm looking at different options. I do however, want to make it a good system :) Though I am here to talk water cooling.

I'd go for a alphacool 360 ut60 over the rx360. It's better for several reasons and cheaper too.

If you go intel then you can still get an asus board to get your colour scheme... :D

As I said, currently I'm not sure on the budget, it may be a lot and I could wait longer to increase it, but currently I'm looking at the AMD solution and trying to build up a list of parts I could use. I am currently looking at an AMD FX-8150 and an XFX 7970 to water cool. In the future I may look at an Intel solution but for now, I'm interesting in parts for AMD.

Any reason why you're only considering AMD?

It's kind of difficult to help at all - especially with watercooling without a budget.
Also, what's the rig gunna be used for?

It's going to be for gaming, rending and to look pretty xD.
I'm looking at different solutions and how they may perform and look for the price. I may soon look into an Intel solution and other variations of Intel/AMD after but at the moment I'm trying to see how an AMD rig would go.

In terms of budget for water cooling, I'm just looking for decent parts, not top of the range, but decent enough to get the job done nicely for the parts specified. So not too expensive but not the cheapest stuff possible that wont perform too well.

Eugh - I'd ditch the Switch if you want something pretty :)

If it were me - I'd go for a 3770k Intel on an MSI Z77a-GD65. Then watercool just the cpu. If you then bought an EVGA 670 FTW you'd get better overall performance than your AMD rig, it would be less power consuming and perform far better in rendering. You can then add the GPU to the loop when the budget allows.
Should work out a similar price as the AMD rig with full watercooling, and perform far far better.

An FX8150 is just pure crap, it's the only way i can put it. A 3570K performs better, and a 3770K demolishes it. So yeah, i'd get a 3770K for definite

An AMD solution is better for rendering on a budget, if you make use of all those cores. Intel will wipe the floor for not that much more.
