Looking for 7mm thick SSD

Hope somebody can chime in with some suggestions for a small (pun intended) issue I'm having.

Many sites do SSD reviews, but few publish detailed specs on drive size. I have a HP 210 Mini netbook that I'd like to upgrade to a SSD. My problem is that I cannot fit a standard 9.5mm tall drive as HP has designed the Mini to fit only drives with a 7mm z-height.

I've tried doing some online research, but have been able to locate only three SSD models that are 7mm tall:

  • Intel 520 series
  • Crucial M4
  • Samsung 830 series

The Intel drives are listed as 9.5mm, but they come with a spacer that can be removed. It would be good to know if there are any other 7mm SSD options other than the above three.

I'd like to find out which one of these is the best buy based on low power consumption for extended battery time. I also want something with solid reliability/quality. My budget is in the sub-$400 bracket and I need a drive that is either 240GB or 256GB capacity.

Any/all help appreciated!

Intel isn't the fastest but they wont Fail like most other SSD on the market.

I would buy the Intel 520 series.

Just be careful on the brand you get.

I have had two SSD Fail in the last year, make backup.

I think the Intel is the most expensive but as stated above is meant to be very reliable and a good all-rounder. The 830 has the highest power consumption of the 3 so might not be the best choice for you.
