looking at new case (pos new project)

I'm thinking of getting a new case, possibly even doing a whole new project but I'm not sure whether to get a cheap case and mod it or get a coolermaster/xigmatek/antec.

I was looking at the Coolermaster 690 II Adv & the xigmatek utgard (which actually seem very similar )

But there doesn't seem to be much space for the PSU (I have the alienware 100mm high one atm)

Also I'm a bit put off of screwless designs due to this:

So I might have to get a larger case but I'm not sure which one really

I was looking at the xigmatek as it looks like it would be pretty easy to fit a 120.2 rad in the top.

Not sure if it's just me but the majority of new cases look really ugly and cheap (thin metal)

Does anyone know where to get meshing for cases? might get a cheap case and mod it with some mesh etc

I've been looking into this more and I'm not 100% sure what I'm going to do yet but I might build a new watercooled rig.

My first option was to go for a Antec 300 and mod it loads & put a loop with 1 or 2 120mm Rads

Then I looked around and thought maybe I will get a bigger case and do a project with a 240 or even 360 Rad

My favourite case atm is the Corsair Obsidian (altho it's massive and overly priced)

Also in terms of getting a case to fit a 100mm PSU without modding, I found that Antec have released a series of PSU for their larger cases which are actually 120mm in height and are made to fit the 1200 P183 and P193 cases.

the best case for under £100 is the utgard fella,it got a awsome review on hear, infact i think the advnce 2 is reviewed on hear to

As I'm thinking of watercooling I've been looking at full towers

Just been playing with sketchup, designed a scratch build cube style case

Then I found some pre-made models so just did a quick render from a TJ07 with mobo and 8800GTS

Doesn't look that brilliant without textures but really loving sketchup

Hey dude, just to give my own 2 cents, I've got the CM690 advanced 2 case, with water cooled CPU and GPU inside the case.

You can fit a PA120.2 down the bottom of the case (if you have a modular PSU it'll be a little tricky installing cables - tight squeeze but still fits) and I've got an XSPC RS240 at the top of the case, two regular 120mm fans can fit in between the top panel and case (I believe, but I have two 120mm slim yate loons there which fit without any problems).

Here's what my cube case design looked like

(240 rad on side and 360 on front)

Decided a scratch build would be too expensive

So I've just ordered a new full tower

have done a sketchup of what I plan to do with it

240 rad on front

360 rad on top

nearly bought a antec300 to mod but would have had trouble fitting my 100mm PSU and all the watercooling stuff

just need to decide on a name for the project

My Temjin TJ06 was £72 to my door. That PSU should most deffo fit, the only thing that could possibly foul is the rubber feet on the PSU support posts, but they come off.

It also has those dumbwad snap down card things but thankfully the whole mech comes out and you can screw the cards down. Which is a good thing considering it doesn't support dual cards.

Well worth considering IMO. It offers the entire feature set and size of cases double the price.

Hehe. Left pic reminds me of looking down one of those caged lift shafts (old skool).

I remember reading about it, deffo based on the ES. That's why it has that weird thing on the top with an antenna looking thing.

Lian Li have done some f***ing cool cases over the years as ltd ed. They did one shaped like a curved horn a few years ago, and then in 2002 then did one with a fish tank in the side panel. Good part was you could get the panel seperately.. Well, they went on clearance in the USA for $50. Me and my pal got $20 cases that were basically identical to the Lian Li (made from steel though). I removed the lexan tank from the alu part (drilled the rivets) then cut them into these cheap cases.

God they were SO awesome dude. Not real fish, but man they were so relaxing to watch. I'll see if I can find any pics or a video.

So relaxing. I used to sit and watch it for hours. WANT.
