Microsoft's original plans for Windows Media Player (WMP) 11–formerly code-named Aurora–were fairly low-key, with just a few minor new features. That's all changed: Microsoft has canceled Aurora, and the company is moving the Longhorn media player to XP. Now code-named Polaris, WMP 11 will be a major release. There's just one problem: Instead of shipping in November, as per the original plan, WMP 11 will now ship in a public beta during that month, coinciding with Longhorn Beta 2. The final release is roughly scheduled for early 2006. You heard it here first.

microsoft will keep few reasons for people to buy longhorn beacuse alot of features are coming to xp altough if someone wants his OS to look like a Mac he definetly needs longhorn.

http://msmvps.com/chrisl/ (this is where from ars technia quoted from) -- the link for his article

the reason i didnt post - its old knowledge that the majority of the Longhorn system will be released on Win XP (u can download the beta for XP now EDIT: from here ) and its a microsofdt trend that new Windows media players for new oses are usually always available for all recent Oses <cept 10 it only wants to play with XP it doesnt even like 2003>
