Linksys E3000 Refurbished Not Connecting for setup

I am trying to setup my E3000 router and I am running the included setup disc, did EVERYTHING right and it still says it cannot find my router, well I called customer support and they did all these things to just say that " Oh yes, we can fix it, for 99.99, it is only a one time charge.". I will have none of that, all I want to do is get it setup so I can flash it to Tomato USB and have a nice, cheap super router, can anyone help me?

How are you trying to connect to it?

If you've connected over network (wired) then you should be able to browse to the router on the default gateway address as set in your connection status. According to the interweb it should be on 192.168.1.1 so if you've set up your connection manually then you'll need to put your nic in that subnet.

First thing to do with any router is throw out the included "EZ setup" CD. You don't need it. Next, because it's a refurb, I'd probably reset it. Usually this is done by plugging the router into power and holding the reset button on the back for 30 seconds. After that wait 2 minutes and connect your PC to it. Go to a command prompt and type ipconfig to make sure you got an IP address from the router. If so, open up your browser and go to http://192.168.1.1 like leejc73 mentioned.

There is a required passcode and username for when I try to connect to the router, should the reset get rid of that?

It will set it back to default. Looks like the default username and password are both admin.

Edit: Try those before doing a reset.

worked like a charm, only one problem now, I cannot figure out which exact variation of Tomato Firmware I need and exactly how I go about changing my firmware.

Why do you want to flash it to tomato? The only purpose I could see to do that is if the router is not performing the way you want to.
