Lighting question

I am not sure if this is the forum for this particular question or not, but I am wondering if anyone has used this type of lighting in a case or to under-light a case or motherboard...

Here's my question, and if you have done this, please let me know: I am thinking that I can solder a Molex 8981 connector (AMP MATE-N-LOK) from the yellow +12v and the black ground to the + and - connections of the strip respectively. I am going to use about 3 meters of the strip which at 5 meters uses a 12V, 3A Max, 36 Watt Max power supply. Will the molex provide enough power and without producing excess heat? My PSU is a corsair AX 850 gold.

Thank you for your input in advance.

Ok, I guess I will have to venture into the realm that no one else here has ventured into...I will do the experiments, and perhaps be offering a new product in case lighting soon. :) Glad I have my trusty multimeter.

Be careful with your PSU... do tests with a throwaway first before you start soldering to your £150 corsair unit ;)

A $150.00 item IS a throwaway, it costs that much for a dinner for 2. :) I'll pick up a second one so I don't have to do the testing in the live case. I'll be soldering to pins that I add in to a molex and connect to a switch so the lights can be dimmed and turned on and off.
