I think the x stands for two back cut outs for the cpu area so you can have a double socket mother board

Ah, one of the flaws with the non X..

Yeah as I said mate I would try and avoid it tbh. It's all a bit confused and these days it faces HARD competition from Corsair and Caselabs.

Actually I think the X stands for black insides and black outsides. Black outsides only would be
"B" (such as the Lian Li PC-343B ) and silver cases usually have an "A" as their product number
suffix (e.g. Lian Li PC-Q11A), whereas red is "R" (Lian Li PC-Q11R). At least that's how I remember
it, maybe someone has a reliable source for this.

As for the case itself, there are better alternatives, especially for that price. I once considered
it myself, but it's just not really up to date imho and would require heavy modification to make
it into something that's competitive. I'm not against expensive cases (I have a Caselabs, after
all), but an expensive case needs to offer corresponding value I would say, and this just simply
does not do that imho.

I once did a build in one of the more expensive Lian Li cases a few years ago, and build quality
was pretty good on that one (for example, the panels are quite sturdy and not at all flimsy like
in their lower range offerings), but cable management and ventilation aren't really up to par with
today's standards I think.

See now that's the exact issue I have with Lian Li. They still think it's 2003. Their early cases were luxurious and well laid out. The problem is they simply haven't moved with the times.

Any company who makes a case costing what that does ^ and is too mean to anodise the insides deserves a slap. They deserve and even bigger slap, pimp slap maybe? for charging extra for it.

A lot of water has passed under the bridge since companies like Lian Li wooed us a decade ago with their high quality chassis and many companies have caught them up and even gone sailing past.

What astounds me a bit is that some of their newer designs are actually really innovative in
some aspecs of their design (like the PC-V750 with its PSU at the front), but on other parts
they really are still living in the past (cable management). Granted, the V750 is priced absolutely
ludicrously, but some of its features and the general concept are quite nice imho.

It's just really strange to me. Sort of like they have two engineering departments, one from
the future and one that's been locked in a room without access to outside world information,
both just working on different parts of the same case and then their results being merged by
the marketing department :headscratch:

Have always wanted to build in a Lian Li case, and I used to lust after them a few years ago, but I agree that they don't seem to be on the same page as some of the other manufacturers that have cruised past them. Not having black interiors is definitely worth a bitch slap or two...

TBH, I'm more bothered by their lack of attention to cable management. I mean, you can
always take the case apart, paint it black (which is possible, given enough patience and
a working space where you can do this) and put it back together again without having to
do too much work or requiring special tools.

But if you wanted to get better cable management, you would seriously have to alter the
case in its physical structure, and that (to me) is a lot more damning. I remember building
my first PC back in 2001 from my own money and wanting a Lian Li (couldn't afford it of
course), and I agree, parts of their designs have just been stagnating, and I probably
wouldn't recommend them nowadays (at least in most cases).

Some Lian Li cases are out of date yes, but they have some quiet nice mid tower cases now, the Lian Li PC-V600FB looks awesome but the inside lacks some grommitted holes for cable management which I would prefer, this case does come with a big space betweeen the motherboardtray and harddrive cage that you would use for routning cables thru. For me it doesnt matter if the inside is not all black, there is no window in the sidepanel and I wouldnt noticed the black interiour anyway. They do sell an allblack version aswell, and thats what I like about Lian Li, they give you options to chose between silver, black and silver, all black and red usually, havent seen this option very much before at Cooler Master, Corsair Thermaltake or any other mainstream case manufacturer.

bought one of these a few months ago black on the inside and black on the outside plus 2 cut outs for the motherboards with two cpu sockets on them its a nice case

Whenever I think of Lian Li, and look at most of their cases they seem to ooze quality. All that brushed Aluminium looks lovely. For me Silverstones has to be one of the most innovative chassis builders around.

I've had two of their cases in my hands, a big tower and the PC-343B cube.

The tower really has excellent build quality, very sturdy side panels, and solid chassis
construction, too. The PC-343B however is rather flimsy to be honest. Sure, surface finish
is very nice, but it's 1 mm Alu sheets throughout, which makes it very light, but also not
very sturdy.

I really wish Silverstone would update to TJ-11. Get rid of those ugly fan slots in the side
panels and make a decent sized window, at least. Give me the option to mount the PSU
in the front where the 5.25" slots are, which would enable me to run two 560 radiators in
the bottom compartment. The PSU one is not that important to me, but the fan slots and
window thing was what disqualified the case for me when I chose for my big build.

And a revision for the TJ-07 would also not be a bad idea imho. Better cable management,
a painted interior, for starters.
