So I've already decided to wait to see what the prices on the LGA2011 are gunna be before I upgrade my Mobo and CPU..

My question to you guys is do you think I should upgrade my GPU and buy an SSD now ready for the new board/CPU? or just wait to see what comes up?

Thanks in advance!

gpu maybe if your gaming is suffering but i would wait and do it all at once if i could.

i would bet that gpu and ssd will be cheaper by the time that socket is in the shops.

1366 and 2011 will mostly for workstations and they dont perform as well in games so i suggest sandy brigde

Edit: If ur only gaming just go sandybrigde

Well I have a 4870 currently so nowadays its a bit slow :-/ .. Was thinking of a 560 and SLIing when needed..

As for sandy bridge.. No.. I dont jus game a also do 3d modelling.. My original plan was a 970 and 1366.. Now I've decided to wait til 2011 comes out to see what it can bring to the table

LGA 2011 is likely to be VERY expensive, not sure how much motherboards will be, but don't expect them to be cheap when they come out, also it will be the high end stuff that will be released first, supposedly. From what I've read where are unlikely to see a 920 at launch As we did with 1366. So Say 2011 doesn't launch as many expect till CES 2012 as sandy bridge did this year, I'd think you'd have to wait till march maybe for a affordable alternative to 1366. Still I'm going to be jumping on the bandwagon when 2011 goes on sale

A 970 now on 1366 now is possible a good bet, but obviously that's still quite alot of money, although again probably not as much as 2011 will cost. If you think you'll be able to afford it then lga 2011 will be a fantastic buy, if not a good 6 core new M/B and gpu would surfice you for a good amount of time to come I reckon, and if you can't afford all of that a new gpu should be top priority

Well I figure i might aswell wait for lga2011 because if the prices arn't to much over the top then i'll buy.. If they are I'll stick with 1366 and a 970 and it will also be cheaper then so double win :-)

Im afraid T.A.K that im an intel fan boy :-) .. And don't plan on purchasing any amd cpus even if the price is half I just don't think that an amd cpu can keep up with intel in terms of performance :-D

Personally unless you actually need a SSD or a new GPU i'd wait untill 2011 is out because from now till then who knows what Nvidia and AMD will come out with, same goes for SSD's, they could drop in price and faster ones could be released. It would be a bit disappointing if you bought a SSD and GPPU now and when 2011 comes out a better faster version was available for the same price.

Like I said my current 4870 is getting a bit slow in games.. I was looking at getting a gigabyte 560 SOC and going SLI later on.. As for an ssd im looking at the c300 mainly because I'm impatient..

@SnW use it all you wish I made it for the redline logo.. If you need any mor renders jus send me a PM and i'll get sone sorted :-)

its still only a quad tho sean.

2011 with 6 cores/12 threads and quad chan ram will oc as well if not better than sb and then the extra cores/threads and more mem bandwidth with kill sb in rendering.

If we'd wait for new releases we'd never buy anything, always something new around the corner. x)

I know, but what I was saying is unless he needs them now he should wait until he upgrades so he can get the best of what is available at that time rather than buying now and missing out on better when he does upgrade at the end of the year. But if he needs them now there is no point in waiting and should just get the best he can at the time.

Um what? 1366 is THE enthusiast platform right now lol whether your gaming OR rendering. What you meant to say is its more economical if your gaming to go sandbridge.

I think 1366 is still good for games, and even better for rendering, but I could be wrong.
