LG shows off the world's largest 8K OLED TV ahead of CES

Meh... Why now?. Can anyone really afford this today? And why now, if Samsung is set to showcase their MicroLED technology, which could replace both OLED and QLED. Just a bit pointless in that regard if you ask me ^_^.

MLED is a long way off. It's first application will more than likely come in a smartwatch or smartphone. Besides that picture wise it's not going to be much change compared to OLED.

MicroLED will not be ready anytime soon. Yes, this massive display will not be affordable by consumers today, but people will buy it and the lessons learned while developing it will be applied to other future technologies.

While it is pointless for normal consumers, it isn't pointless for LG and those who plan to develop 8K content in the future. LG has also shown that they can make larger OLED screens, and we all know that people love stupidly big TVs.
