Live for Speed is a sim racer which has been running since 2002 without licensed cars or tracks.
This game has seen has some progress. Visually it is dated but when racing you will forget it. I think in VR it is up there with the big names like pcars2 and iracing. I wholeheartedly recommend giving it a go, even in the free to play form.
The reason I am making the game its own thread as the mentions are far and in between and the VR implementation left me in awe.
