The only thing I can see happening with this release is that the 8 core CPUs that are the best for gaming get cheaper. However, this is Intel and unlike AMD they are not known for cutting prices on older gen hardware.
So it will be a niche product. No better at gaming, and not as good as the 3900x or 3950x.
I wonder if those TDP are done at base speed? I've 990ok's without any OC using over 200W. there is no way 2 more cores and a speed bump is going to be anywhere near these numbers unless skylake has been that refined?

Yeah I believe Intel's methodology is to set the TDP as that required to run a reasonably high load at base clocks, but running a particularly heavy load at base, or using boost, will often go beyond that, heard many reports of 180W+ on those 8-cores if you're benchmarking with boost clocks or something.
