Leaked Intel i7 8700K specifications

I bet these will be just as fast in multi threading as an 1800X @4.ghz, despite the 25% core/thread reduction and will leave Ryzen for dust in single core performance, which despite what people say, still matters.

Remember that these are supposed to be 6-cores, not 4-cores.

IE, an i7 8700K will have 25% fewer cores than a Ryzen 1800X (8 to 6 is a 25% reduction). Looking at it from the other side the Ryzen 7 1800X has 33% more cores than an i7 8700K (6 to 8 is a 33% increase) (Gotta love math)

A lot of this will come down to pricing.

it needs 5ghz clock to beat ryzen @ 4.0 ghz

I doubt it. You are forgetting that Ryzen is Broadwell E IPC. Coffee lake is Broadwell E, plus Skylake, plus Kabylake etc. It could be 20% faster than Broadwell E on IPC alone.

AMD need to work out this 4ghz barrier. It could even be artificially imposed tbh. Yeah I know, tinfoil hat etc. But they may have done that purposely so that Ryzen 2 will be much faster. I doubt that, but what I don't doubt is that they need to sort that quite badly, or Intel will leave them behind.

As per usual it will all come down to price. I'd love a six-core that could match an i7-7700k in gaming, but if it costs twice as much as an R5 1600 then it'll be a no-go. The price has to reflect the performance difference from its competition; Intel can't get away with excessive pricing anymore.

*positive mode* if this is the replacement for the 7700k it should cost around £330. That's £130 more than the R7 1600, more than enough.
