The problem here is that no-one needs 300fps, even if you're serious about your games 144hz is the most common top refresh rate. They're fighting over numbers that are miniscule and make no difference in games.
I totally understand the lameness after all the hype, but realistically, why not release these? Why not add the performance even if it's only 5%? It doesn't take away from the perfectly good CPUs of the non-X3D variants, and Intel still has good chips too. They're pushing for more because they can. Consumers can still choose not to waste their money on these.
