I think that you need to take more time drawing lines that look like they should be parallel, because it would improve the drawings a lot.
 
Nice work. If you really want to improve your drawing, definitely see if you can join a life drawing class, or draw from life. If you can draw, shade and colour different textures and objects you'll not only get more inspiration but an understanding of perseption, texture and depth.

Great work though, also worth looking at shading with just light to dark tones

I'll probably do that with revisions of what I've done at the moment. I didn't actually think of that but it's so obvious!

Yes definitely

even, say, draw an object from life (eg a rubber or mug) just to get the different shape and perspective first then incorporate your own design in, around, on and/or through your main image.

Giving yourself little tasks to do will make it fun as well and not to daunting and difficult.
