Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeah... I bought my GT60 almost a year ago now, it was my first gaming computer, it has done pretty damn well so far. Here's the specs:

Model: MSi GT60 0nc
Board: MS16F3
CPU: i7-3610QM (Pinned at 3.1GHz)
RAM: 3x4GB DDR3@1600MHz
GPU: NVidia GTX 670m (GF114@650-780/750-820MHz Core/Mem)
HDD: 2x WD 500GB 7200RPM

I'll get some more if you guys like.

Overclocking and The Plinth

So, I was getting around 55-65 FPS in BF3, this was bothering me, because every time it went under 60 it jumped a bit, despite not having VSync on. I decided why not overclock the card, the thing was hitting about 68C when it was on the desk. Also, I wanted to do some benchmarking with it, just to see how far I could push it. But, starting around 700MHz I was starting to hit temperature problems when I used furmark to test stability, after about a minute I was getting over 90C. I decided to lift the laptop off the desk on a book for a while, this brought the load temps down by about 1C, I was not impressed...

Next I started thinking what I could do, I noticed that the desk was awfully hot, so I set about making myself an extractor fan out of lego, initially it only ducted air from the GPU exhaust on the rear of the laptop. After some testing and fiddling with it I added the CPU duct to it and mounted it on a few lego floorplate. I raised it a bit extra to put ice under it during the awfully hot Chilean summer, as it was hitting almost 80C in BF3 at 620MHz (factory overclocked).

Now, in the autumn, I ran a bit of heaven benchmarks, I decided to try to push the core speeds to the max as the memory bus was far from saturated, I could hit 835MHz stable in furmark. I ran uploaded this run to see what I was getting, I was impressed with my #2 world position and am aiming to get #1 just for lolz.

I don't play much BF3 at the moment, but when I do I usually run it at 720 core, 750 memory.

I want to get an unlocked BIOS for both the board/CPU and the GPU, I want to push the BClk up a bit (it is around 98MHz atm), also I want to try to override the TDP restrictions on the CPU and see if I can lock the multiplier at 33x to get 3.3GHz.

For the GPU I want to be able to push the volts when I need to, at anything above 835MHz it gets a lot of artifacts, and I can't push the memory past 790MHz if I have the core over 720MHz. Also, the driver/bios is being a bit stupid at the moment with the voltages, sometimes leaving it at 800mV when it should be going at 900mV (when I have it overclocked), and 900mV is too much volts for 620-670MHz.

But I might end up running into problems with the VRM which when running furmark@780+MHz it was hitting over 110C, so I might do a mod on it when I get my desktop, or just ditch overclocking the laptop and focus on my desktop. But, then again I have never messed around with modding computer parts, but I'd like to give it a shot at some point.

As far as the laptop goes, it is well cooled, noisy, and has 2 hard drives... I'd recommend it to anyone who is not bothered about the noise and wants 2 hard drives.

Considering laptop Cpus/Gpus are meant for low power/voltage and not run too hot for too long: i would say OC'ing it that often and heavily will degrade your system far quicker than it should.

My main concern ATM is that the GPU power phases are pretty inadequate for even the 75w TDP of the 670m, I am holding my fingers crossed that it doesn't blow up at any point xD

had to make the attachment just for you. It was perfect lol

Otherwise amazing setup my man!
