Laptop won't start after BSOD

I didn't know which forum this would fit under so I'm just gonna post it here.

I got a new laptop charger today, since my old one broke.

I turn on my laptop and it goes to "resuming windows". After about 15 seconds it blue screens, then shuts down. Now the thing won't turn on at all. It's like the power button doesn't seem to do anything at all.

Is the laptop a lost cause or can I save it? It's an old HP Pavillion dv6700 running Vista.

is the charger the same as the old one? or did this happen with it after a charge and running off batteries?
able to get the bsod codes for us?

It's the same as the old one, but my battery is completely dead and won't accept any charge, so I'm running it off of AC power only. The LED around the plug glows when the charger is in, so the laptop seems to be receiving power, but the power button literally does nothing.

As a result, I can't get any bsod codes. I missed em the first time around.

If the battery is still plugged in, try taking it out and see what that does. Second thing you can try is making sure that it really is the same charger and provides with the same voltage and amps as the broken one. I remember getting a charger that looked the same at first, but pushed a lot more voltage than the old one. Unfortunately, to me it sounds like the mobo got cooked.

Yeah, it gives the same voltage and amps, that's the first thing I checked before buying it.

Tried with and without battery, no dice.

One last thing that comes to mind is pulling the RAM modules out and see if it does anything. Normally, it should beep. If it doesn't, the mobo is dead.
