LanParty UT nF4 SLi-D won't accept 4x 512m DIMM's???

Hey guys.

I'm a relative noob to playin with dual channel config's, tweaking bios' etc... the problem being that after installing all 4 sticks of Corsair 512m RAM I can't get the system to post at all. It works fine with two sticks, both pairs, in different config's over the four slots, but refuses to post with all four.

Here's this system's specs:

DFI LanParty UT nF4 SLi-D (NB on air & latest DFI bios)

AthlonXP 64 4200 (DD Maze TDX-A64)

2x Corsair CMX512-3200LLPRO

2x Corsair CMX512-3200C2PRO

6800 Ultra (F/C NV68)

6800 GT (stock cooling)

WD360 Raptor

Tagan TG480-U01

OS WinXP32

The water cooling is with 1x 120mm & 1x 240mm rad in series with 1/2" throughout pumped fulla black UV F1. No over-clocking as yet, but if I can get this RAM sorted I hope to step the system up a few notches. I have also tried just using single VGA mode for each card seperately but this makes no difference to the boot problem so i've put both cards back in & left it in SLi mode for now.

So, any suggestions on what the problem could be? I've googled plenty but can't seem to come up with the answer, although i'm sure I can't be the only one that has experienced this fault?

Thanx ppl :)

The Athlon 64 has a built in memory controller that although great for performance, has its limitations. One such limitation is that it can only handle 4 memory modules at 333MHz ddr (166MHz) and at a 2T command rate. The 2T command rate is the more important limit in my experience.

I would try setting the 2T command rate and 166MHz speed, if that boots then you can increase your speed by changing the set speed or overclocking your processor.

I hope this helps.

U defo will have to run it at 2T as Nagaru said, but you should be able to run them at 200fsb.

very true, another note though, all the dfi lanparty series mobos were pretty

y on its ram just to let ya know, it usually likes the G.Skill and Mushkin and Ballistics from Crucial.

Thank you for all the pointers guys. :)

I'm pleased to say that by setting the command rate to 2T the system now boots fine with all four dimms installed. I've even managed to pull a fairly respectable stable OC of 2827.3mhz @ 257x11.

A problem still remains though :( .... WinXP-32 still only sees 1GB & not the full 2GB??? Also, the lights on the pair in the yellow channels are'nt on. However, CPU-Z does report that I have 2048mb's installed. Here's the screenies:

So i'm stumped. Where do you think i'm going wrong here?
