keyboard dilema

so im looking to upgrade to a mechanical keyboard with my new build and I can't decide between getting the k70 RGB red switch and the Ducky shine 4 red switch (when they come out of course). I'm worried that the corsair might maintain the led lifespan problems of the current models, what do?

The K70 RGB has the newer cherry switches with the LED's inside, so the lifespan of the LED's should improve as they say that the main cause of LED failure in the present Cherry switches is ESD (Electro Static Discharge), so with the LED's built into the switches themselves there is very little chance of this happening.

On side note, with all the patterns etc that the K70 RGB does, will you get anything done apart from watching the light show?? :)

well the shine 4 also does a pretty light show (not as advanced probably) but ill probably grab the k70 then and get a the shine 4 later

Ducky> Corsair. Every time.
Better build quality, better materials, properly insulated LEDs -apparently- (so the whole ESD thing doesn't count) etc etc.

Also bear in mind that these are Cherry MX LED keys in the corsair, so perhaps they will have better quality control this time.

I'd honestly wait to try them out in person. The previous iterations of Corsair KBs have felt tacky. Yeah the metal shell is nice but it never it felt like quality to me.

Also are they still using those super horrid matte keycaps? I want a high responsiveness from my KBs and the Corsair ones just don't seem to provide that. Those are my personal thoughts and experiences.

I've had a K70 for some time, love it, looks great and my little Assassins Creed guy runs round better than ever before, (I am a gaming noob). None of the LED's have died and if they did I know Corsair would take care of it but to be fair it doesn't have a very hard life.

I'm all for quality, better materials and i'm certainly not against paying for it but I just think all of the Ducky's and Filco's etc look lame, they just don't entice me in any way into making a purchase. I know some people get excited by the little ones with no tenkey and go all out on funky caps etc but they still don't really grab me. I think I will have to keep my K70 in commission for a long time yet.

I agree the filcos/leopolds/realforces look a bit bland but the Ducky Shine 3 year of the snake edition looks badass IMO. The best thing about a Corsair KB for me is the volume slider.. or was until I switched over to an external amp.

My friend games alot and went through alot of peripherals (particularly Corsair and CM storm) before he got a ducky keyboard. Its not died at all. He plays alot of Team Fortress 2 (scout, Div 1 for anyone who cares) and has yet to break it.

i know i like the way the shine 4 looks, but i'm going to take the gamble of the better leds on the rgb switch not dying and probably grab a shine 4 later just because. im already going to have a secondary keyboard (das keyboard 4 professional brown switch) so having another isnt goint to be a problem
