Guys,
Just installed a Kentfield CPU in an Asus P5WDH with an arctic cooler 7 pro air cooler just to run as a stop gap before putting under phase in a couple of weeks hopefully. This cooler only has a 92mm fan running at 1000rpm but I was staggered to see in the BIOS the idle temp was 63degC:O Looks like this cooler is not man enough to cool a quad core - I wasn't execting this at stock voltage!!
Thinking that the BIOS was probably misreading I touched the alu fins on the heatsink and it was damn hot so maybe 63degC is right. I suppose with 4 cores to cool down this might be expected.
What coolers you guys using on your Intel chips and what temp ranges are you getting?
@Mav - what temp is your kentsfield running under air/water?
Also if anyone can recommend some good temp monitoring software for the Asus P5WDH that would be great ...maybe an updated version of motherboard monitor?
