Kaapstad is getting a GTX 980 ti

Kaapstad, are you from the US or Europe? The 980 Ti Kingpin is completely unavailable where I'm from. I was just wondering if you had to import it or not.

Is that one of the ones where ya pay more for higher ASIC? I remember seeing a review about one of them a while back, they started getting into silly money for the highest ones. I like the copper heat sync, ive always wanted to go for a full copper build with heat syncs and tubing.

From what I understand, and something that gets debated alot. If you intend to watercool/LN2, I think you should aim for a low ASIC.

Yes it's the one where you choose the ASIC.

For normal use it is not worth paying the extra for a high ASIC.

I live in England.

I got mine from the EVGA online eu store.

One of the reasons I got the card was to have a look at ASIC.

What I have found so far is my card can hit clockspeeds up to 1575/2002 on stock volts but it makes no difference if I increase the volts on air.

From what I have seen with other 980 Ti cards with a lower ASIC is they can get the same clockspeeds with a bit of voltage control.

The end result is on air most 980 Ti's have the same level of performance but some may need a bit of voltage to get there.

I don't really want to remove the air cooler and fit a waterblock as the Kingpin is probably the best looking card I have seen.

Yeah i think in GPU-z it said lower is better for water, i know the best card ive ever had for overclocking only had a 58% ASIC.

I could not resist.

I have just ordered another one.

@TTL is there any chance of you doing a review on a Kingpin. Even if you are not into benching the card is a lot of fun and very quiet for gaming.

Oh, come on dude!... Do you seriously own a bank or something Kaapstad?. Or are you secretly a millionaire?

No

My hobby is PCs

I don't have many commitments.

My ex decided she liked Cape Town more than me.

I can not drive as I have poor coordination.

So at the moment

No fast women

No fast cars

That just leaves fast PCs.:D

Ain't that the life! I envy that! I'd be rich if I didn't have commitments:p

So you have 2 now or 3?... I've lost count :p

Only 2.:D

With these type of coolers it is pointless using any more than two cards.

The coolers are the reason I bought these cards so there no way I am going to put waterblocks on them.

The new one has an ASIC of 82.7 and the max overclock on stock volts was a crazy 1590/2002 with a running temp of 50c.

Haha "only 2 :D"... Doesn't one cost the same as an Acer Predator X34 lol?...

So it's the coolers then ey?... Is it how they perform or the look of the coolers that made you buy them?.

It is both the way they look and also perform that is impressive. Even running at 100% they don't make much noise.
