Aren't the coolers of the XFX HD series different from the normal ATI reference coolers?

A friend of mine bought an HD4850 of XFX and the cooler does spin up to 2000rpm and is smaller, wich makes it noisy, an other friend got the HD4870 from Sapphire and his cooler goes up to 5500RPM and is less noisy at 3500RPM than the XFX @ 2000RPM.

their seems to be quite a few problems with the xfx 4890's atm.I have read on a few forums how quite a few seem to be failing.(although not as bad as EVGA motherboards,those are a real joke)

Phew, good job I've gone for that Sapphire one instead of the XFX black edition might not have lasted very long and made more noise than my girlfriends hair drier. Saying that I'm still waiting for it to arrive at YoyoTech before I'll get to use it.
