Just about to click the 'Confirm Order' button

I'm pretty set with what i'm about to do. It's a little bit of, 'do what I say, not what I do.', as I would probably recommend against a build such as this for a user like me. But hey, overkill's the only way.

So, in no particular order;

CPU: 3770k (already got)

CPU Heatsink: Noctua NH-D14

Motherboard: MSI Z77A GD65

GPU: I shall be ordering this later. 7950, though.

RAM: Mushkin Blackline 1600MHz (8GB)

PSU: Corsair AX750

Boot drive: Mushkin Chronos 120GB x2 (already got)

Storage: Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB

Optical Drive (yup, I still use mine): LG BH10LS38

Case: Fractal Design Define R3

Monitor: 24" ASUS VE248H

Case fans: I'll get a NF-F12 to replace the NF-P12 on the NH-D14 and use that as a case fan. Shall also buy a NF-S12b or two.

So, any qualms or shall I go right ahead and press the button?

Looks all good to me. Seeing as you are ordering the GPU later i'd wait until the GTX 670 comes out (10th May i do believe). It may be priced similarly to the 7950 (more likely in between the 7950 and 7970), but atm the few benchmarks of the 670 on the internet indicate it's one hell of a card. Apart from that it all looks good to me.

Seeing as the 7950 beats the 680 when overclocked, it shall be interesting to see what the 670 can do

Thankyou, though

I shall indeed be waiting to see what Nvidia can offer. I was quite the Nvidia fanboy last generation, but AMD, so far, have won me over.

Why a caviar green?

arent they 5900rpm? Even though you are using SSDs I would still recommend spending a little bit more and getting a 7200rpm

Looks like a good build though, be sure to provide pics

The Green's are only 5400rpm, but as they're only going to be for music, documents, pr0n, etc. there's no need for such amazing speeds. All programs/games etc. shall be on the SSDs - that's where I think the speed matters

Definitely wait for reviews of the 670, from what is floating around on the web, and people do have them already so these results are legit, the 670 is beating the 680 when overclocked. It all comes down to price though and how the 670 matches the 7950 price wise, performance wise though, it's looking like the 670 is the card to get.

Thursday is release day for the 670 so you haven't got long to wait to find out anyway.

Yeah, I shall be waiting. Shall be odd to see a 670, with that dinky PCB, out perform the current head honcho.

get faster ram, ivy makes the most of the mhz

I'll probably up the RAM a little, or as much as I can, but shall it really make much of a difference when it comes to gaming/normal day to day use?

If need be I can buy faster RAM later

You won't notice the difference in performance between anything 1333 and above for gaming or everyday use. Save the ££s!

^This. 1600Mhz is a sweet spot for memory, but 1333 works well too. You will see a bit of a difference in benchmarks with higher speeds, but in the real world it won't make a difference at all
