I think these unboxing videos are useless to be honest.

What does it show? Oh... a cpu (silver of course) with an instruction manual, cardboard, and most of the time a heatsink. All packaged in a nice blue and yellow box.

How informative.

Basically the clock speed is defined by the front side bus,FSB (also known as the baseclock, bclk) and the multiplier, x. So SB runs at FSB100mhz and around 34x depending on the chip.

100x34=3400mhz

Architectures behave differently, my last rig (phenom II) was quite happy with both being messed with. I sat it on FSB234 on 17.0x for 24/7 use.

234*17.0= 3978mhz

SB however doesn't like you messing with the FSB, so you can only really OC on the x. If you get a non 'k' chip then you can't play with the x. Since the FSB doesn't like being moved much, the best you might get could be:

105x34=3570
 
I say bring over clocking back to the 775 days where the FSB was a big factor of the CPU. Makes for a much more interesting and varied over clocking experience =]
 
I believe it gets announced tomorrow and the embargo is lifted for reviews etc, I think it ships on 29th.

Can't wait, I've got my cash sitting here wanting to be spent xD. Really looking forward to my upgrade.
