iTunes is now Illegal in the UK

The thing is, Apple can continue advertising the feature as anyone music wise who'll threaten them with legal action will either loose the ability to sell music on iTunes or will loose to them in the court. Or both.
 
Couldn't apple just get around it by saying that they don't use the ripped files but once you show you own them they give you access to the tunes on their servers

Wow, that sucks. I would expect this to be a great way to kill media sales. Should be interesting to see how this plays out and how long the ban lasts. Will it increase pirating in the UK? Lets hope the US doesn't "copy" this...not that I buy music anymore after that whole copyright ID BS that happened on youtube. Which has allowed people to turn it into a weapon against other youtubers.
 
I guess this means that the majority of the British public will go back to doing what they did before the law let them format shift their music for personal use, which is ignoring it and doing it anyway.

Yeah, and then the government can complain about people illegally downloading and copying things again cause they refuse to pay for the same music album 3 times (once on CD, once for on your phone (are you even allowed to copy the files from your PC to your phone anymore?)) while the rest just downloads it for free without consequences anyway...

They are literally causing the problem to grow right now. If I was an artist I'd rather have people buy my album once, then copy it to their devices so they can listen to it everywhere, let their friends listen to it to introduce them to your music, etc, rather than them not buying it at all cause it's too expensive.

You could get really anal about it and say you're still breaking the law converting the digital media (CD) in an analogue format (sound) :wiggle:

Realistically though this is a single case overturning the law in one instance. All that will happen is the government will re word the law they brought in to get around what ever loophole was discovered.
 
At least government is consistent...old people who don't understand much to do with science, technology or society making the rules.
 
People use Itunes.. that's the root of the problem lol
Artists get ripped off by Itunes.. They barely make money off albums let alone individual songs that cost 0.99. I just buy the CD from the bands themselves. No limitations on what I can do with it. Use EAC to rip to Flac files for example then put those onto my drive. Then I can just put it on my phone from there. Skip Itunes entirely, pay the same amount for an album on Itunes, support the bands more, and get the music everywhere the same.
