It looks like Huawei plans to enter the GPU market this year

Yeah I do have to say, it can take many years for most economic effects to play out, the impacts of a policy decision can easily take 5-10 years to show fruit, you can't really judge the success of Trump's economic measures this early on in his presidency.

In terms of the calculus, most economic changes occur at the 2nd or 3rd differentials, so we're talking about changes in the rate of change, or the acceleration/deceleration of rate of change, so the impacts of most policies will start small and only become meaningful once those changes to rate of change have had time to develop into actual changes.

The dollar getting stronger against all other currencies means im losing out! Throw in the Kroner crash and a 9900k has gone from costing me, 4400nok to 6500nok. Thats like £200 increase in just 1.5years.
Many countries are intentionally weakening their currencies to improve their export markets though to be fair, particularly in Asia. Strong domestic currency is useful if you're a heavy importer, but significantly hampers exports. More does not automatically equal Better when it comes to currency value.

Edit: Also from an economic perspective this is definitely the biggest catastrophe in the last century, if not modern human history. This doesn't just make 2008 look like a joke. It makes WWII look like a joke.

I can tell you, you are wrong with literally every thing you just said. I don't even need to debate it, I know with certainty

Huawei routers and base stations are better than Ericsson.

Well I'm a network engineer and remember a few years back working on some Huawei core switches and a colleague pointing out to me that in fact the OS was a 100% code for code copy of its competitor's switch (Cisco). We were looking through the support manuals and even they were copied word for word from Cisco support website.

So with this new GPU don't be surprised if some lawsuits start flying around after they release it, its very likely some reverse engineered Nvidia/AMD IP.

Edit: If they did design it from the ground up I would be happy if they get this product to market, the more competition out there the better prices will be for us consumers.

Dude, the economy survived despite Trump's administration, not because of it. His administration was riding high on the previous administration's economic success. Don't forget that Obama inherited the economy in one of the worst recessions in history and he managed to fix it. You can't attribute the effects of 8 years of Obama to 3.5 years of Trump, who's done next to nothing other than provide the biggest corporations with yet another tax cut, and engaging in a trade war with China, which doesn't hurt China in the least. It hurts the US companies and ultimately the consumers.

This is what people say to make them feel better. Literally none of it is true. You just listen to the media. Meanwhile I've taken advantage of every economic development Trump has given the American people.
Or does this make me a corporation?

Try waking up and stop listening to the left. I'm not a Trump supporter diehard but I do know the difference between corruption vs economic growth. He's given the latter. America is safe and prospering. That's all I care about. He's done that and that's all I ask.

Health before wealth.

Wealth helps health. More money means more money to care for a larger group of people while at the same time providing better healthcare. Not rocket science.

Yeah those were actually CISCO ones with a Huawei shell placed on top. Nowadays, Huawei are leagues ahead in terms of 5G but thanks to Trump, no one trusts them.

Nope it's down to what they have included within the switches, I cannot go in to details because honestly I am not supposed to know about it, but when I get told that Huawei switches have been ripped out of a network after they were caught doing stuff that they shouldn't be, then I tend to listen.

When I had a Huawei phone and I went to certain places even before this was all made public, I was asked to leave my phone outside of the rooms etc where conversations took place, I never understood why it was only me that had to do it, until this all started being made public and then speaking to certain people, and then it clicked that they must have known what I know now.

To be fair, Huawei aren't doing anything that Cisco and so on havn't been forced too do by their own governments, government mandated backdoors in network infrastructure is neither new nor uncommon, tbf they probably got the idea from the US in the first place.

But there's no proven imminent risk with any of their hardware at the moment, hence why we and almost every other western country are using them for our 5G infrastructure as we speak. (Even then these backdoors are only an issue when it comes to industrial espionage and stuff, for infrastructure used by the general public theres no reason to worry, the only data the Chinese actually seem to want to steal is weapon/military aircraft designs and stuff, but I mean anyone who's followed the mess of the F-35 programs costs can see why, you can save tens of $Bn's in R&D with that kind of espionage).

Though with that in mind, it starts to become clear why it may be cheaper for the US to forego 5G for a year or two than use Huawei's hardware, if big military contracts were being put at risk, as the US' whole economy is more or less built around military spending, production and exports.

Lol what? so they are scanning you and finding out you own a Huawei phone hidden in your pocket?

Yeah others are probably doing it I agree and they probably did get the idea from other countries.

The issue for ISP's etc is that to be awarded Millitary and other Sector contract's they have to provide assurances that the data being carried over the network, will not leave the country etc and with Huawei switches installed you cannot give that assurance but I will leave that there.

Eventually it will all die down but let's face it, Huawei are not interested in joe bloggs walking down the street, as you say they are more interested in "Sensitive" data.

Then you won't mind my asking how he did it? Which measures exactly lead to such prosperity?

It's stupid I know but I had to empty my pockets to go in to a meeting regarding certain aspects of the job I did at the time, and having a Huawei phone they said "either I don't go in or the phone stays outside"

Even now some places will not allow you to bring Huawei phones etc, because they believe the Microphone is always listening and recording then sending those recordings back to China, paranoia run's rampant when it comes to Huawei now.

The thing I always question though is, if they are not allowing Huawei phones why do they allow Iphones and Samsung etc in since they could be doing the exact same thing.

2 week's ago I had to go to a site, and they wouldn't allow anything in you had to leave everything out of the room and if you needed anything from drawings to photo's etc you had to issue a request and if it was they thought you didn't need them you didn't get them or they were heavily redacted.

Thats normal in my line of work. When I test Apple devices unlreleased yet, I have to go in a boxed room, no windows, no apparel and a camera on me at all times. Such is the way of security.

But blocking Huawei phones in the room... such idiocy. So they are going to record audio that runs into hundreds of megabytes or gigabytes, and send that back to China, over your mobile network coverage, and you are not going to notice this? or the mobile network you belong to, will not pick this up? or any illegal transfer etc?

Almost sounds like you are making it up :D

China spy on every one. To say otherwise is naive. Totally naive.

How much Huawei do it? god knows.

Every country has spies. MI6 are already tracking Covid 19.

Paranoia however is something else entirely. However, most businesses I have ever visited have banned cameras and phones as part of the protocol any way. Mostly because you could be recording audio, and they don't want pictures taken. In fact, in the USA after stuff like Jackass cameras were banned from pretty much every store. Even at Blockbuster we had the police in to take memory cards etc.

I wish I was, but yeah my brother wouldn't allow me to bring my phone in his house when I had the Huawei phone.

Some people have some crack pot ideas, but when things like the whole Huawei switch issue get made public then the tin foil hat wearers relish in it.

I understand some people being abit paranoid with the work they do etc and what that work entails but someone who already has been cleared to enter said meetings etc, should be trusted to be able to determine if a device they are using poses any sort of risk but some people just choose there own way of doing things.

I mean Securitas has a building in the town I live in, and that has seismic sensors etc also a roof designed to stop helicopters from landing on it, and the armed police are basically never to far away and even they don't go to the level of "oh you have a Huawei phone goodbye"

Some people have gone to far with it all, but for "Core Infrastructure" and anything that could be carrying "Sensitive" information I fully understand Huawei switches not being allowed to have anything to do with it.

But this has to be in the context of a state spy/espionage operation having to be both discrete and for a purpose that warrants its costs and risks. Mass surveillance is not an option there, any kind of state spying would be quite focused, 99.9% of what goes on generally will be of no value to any state. That's for Google and Amazon to track.

Of course, spying that goes on within a spy/intelligence agencies own country is a different matter entirely. Chinese govt domestic spying is obviously quite an issue, though GCHQ and the NSA don't have a great record either.
