Considering even the minimum specs are a lot beefier than a PS3, I wonder if they have done any work on improving graphics or if they are just brute forcing it.

MGS: Master Collection Vol.2 is coming to PC in a few months which includes MGS4.

I'd say a bit of both. It's probably not as efficient as it could be, but the system requirements are likely higher than they need to be to ensure people have a good time.

Will be interesting to see how this holds up at higher resolutions. I remember having fun with this game on PS3.

In 2009 I rented it from Blockbuster for my PS3 and only had it for a weekend so never finished it as some of the cutscenes were over 30 minutes long

Yeah, it is a long game. I remember taking 30 minutes before I had to leave for something to "start" the game. Let's just say that I didn't get to start the game...
