Is this the beginning of the end for Ebay?

Very likely, Ebay's been on a downward slope in my opinion. It's too expensive to sell there, and the deals to buy aren't really good at all. I've noticed many items priced higher than retail stores. Lets not forget those inflated "handling" fees

it's glory days have been over for a while and more recent changes have completely ruined the site all together.

It won't be missed

yeah, I've moved on to more local forms of trading. Most notably craigslist. Offering free posting. Not to mention you get paid in cold hard cash. Forums classifieds are nice too :)

I have noticed its fall when it comes to popularity.

It is a shame really as it was a good site.. and what the hell is with the "No negative feedback for sellers"?

Just wanted to say about the no neg feedback for sellers - I kinda agree with the policy. Too often I've felt I couldn't leave neg feedback when it was deserved becasue the seller retailates with neg feedback, even when wrong.

Now sellers can withhold poz feedback instead...

Onto the downfall; it was intevitable. A recent investigation saw ebay get fined 30m euros iirc, not too shortly after that they were hit with another fine of the same magnitude.

'Big' names were pi$$ed off at all the fakes available on ebay and decided ebay weren't doing enough to shut the fakers down... Once one company does it others will jump in and down they go...

I always thought sellers should have to give their feedback first. If the buyer was

, they'd still be able to give negative, but they would no longer be able to retaliate.

My major gripe with ebay has always been bid snipers. Especially the automated ones. One ebay alternative i thought about using adds 5 minutes on if you bid withing the last few minutes of an auction.

Is there a big alternative to eBay.

One thing eBay did was make things vaguely safe for buyers and sellers with PayPal. I don't know of any alternative that offers this, neither do I know of a big auction site I can use instead.

Sniping is what makes ebay fun though... =O (not automated, screw automated. Real snipers do it themselves)

Stopwatch FTW :D I am gutted bout this though- was plannin on selling loads once I'm 18, probs still be able to sell stuff but I have to admit for games or DVDs I normally just use amazon marketplace cos it seems to offer cheaper and I've not had a bad experience yet.

you dont need to be 18 to sell on ebay mate, i been selling on their since iwaS 16, as long as you have a valid bank/credit or debit card its all goood

JIM i got an idea for your site :P

the seller leaves feedback but the buyer cant view it until they have left theirs, therefore either buyer or seller knows what you have written until they have both left feedback

That one idea for ur new Jimbay site, i would love to compete with ebay if i had the skills llol

i mean i posted somthing on ebay once which was about an A4 long at it charged me £1.50 for somthing that i wanted to sell for £10 and then i got to paypal fees, it all adds up and thts why every1 inflates their delivery prices just to cover them selves

I was looking for Watercooling parts on ebay!... and their wasnt anything their, but i did come across some Fezer fluid (duno if i spelt it correct) and they wanted £6.99 + £4 delivery Aqua pcs do this at a cheaper price as far as i know
