Is this build good? (1700X + 1080Ti)

Just a quick question for one of my mates, please!!

:D

He is about to buy a new PC and I've recommended the following specs for what he needs it for:

I just wanted to know if there was anything out of place or that he should watch out for.

Ryzen 7 1700X (for peace of mind - without bothering to have to overclock {only £35 difference between that & the 1700).

What Air cooler would you recommend for this CPU?

ASUS Prime X370-PRO

4x8Gb of RAM (Advice the type of ram, either Corsair/Crucial/G-Skill {list of D-die ram would be helpfull] would be really good.
32Gb total is his goal.

EVGA FTW3 1080 Ti - 11Gb

M.2 SSD WD Black drive

PSU 850W Corsair RVx Series Modular 80 Plus GOLD

Creative Sound Blaster Zx 5.1.

Any & all advice is welcome.

Thanks for your time overclockers!!! :)

Why the sound card? the onboard audio is pretty decent!
The best air cooler has gotta be Noctua D15.

And choose ram that is on the Compatability list on the Asus mobo link. I think I made that mistake recently.

Looks good to me. A little more PSU than you need. I'm a huge fan of the EVGA Supernova lineup especially the G3 line. 650 or 750 at most would be all you need.

As for air cooler, if you're gonna be overclocking then the bigger the better like the Noctua D15 as mentioned. If not or only slightly then a Cooler Master Hyper 212 would work fine.

Personally I think the B350 Strix looks better than the Prime and has the same audio circuitry and chip. You don't need the sound card, and it can actually cause coil whine on a GPU.

I also wouldn't fit four DIMMs and if you do don't go any higher than 3000.

You certainly don't need a NHD-15 on a Ryzen. Total waste of money given they are frequency "locked" at 4ghz. Any decent cheap 120 cooler will do the job fine.

For example.
