Is the extra £90 between a 7950 / 50 worth it ?

I'm still trying to pin down which gpu I want to buy. I have found reference cards in both the 7950 and the 7970 , so no issue there now . I just can't decide if the extra chunk of money for the 70 is worth it . I have watched Toms review on the HIS 7950 several times , and after his findings it seems to be a no brainer . But the fact it was up against a stock 7970 is still ringing bells . I understand that the 7970 when oc'd is obviously going to be a better performer but I'm not sure if I can justify the price difference for such a small amount of performance gain .

So guys what would you do . Is the extra £90 ish worth it , or should I just stick with my first choice in the 7970 ? My head is saying get the 7950 , but my heart is saying get the best I can afford and go for the 7970 . This is deffo my last chunk of money had a great result at a car boot yesterday .

One thing to note if I go for the 7950 I can get all fittings , rad etc , to add it straight into my loop . Whereas with the 7970 I have to wait a few days for a refund to come from the rma to dabs for a soundcard ( any one how long does it take for a refund to show in paypal ?) Decisions Decisions ...

So I made a decision an went for the HIS hd 7950, and she came earlier today. I just need to wait for the block and fittings, before I get her naked and wet. Then again I'm very impatient, so she might get a quick test drive tonight, along with the 16gb of Avexir MPower ram.

What resolution do you intend to game at?

If it's 1080p then the 7950 is more than sufficient.

You could also wait for a good deal to come up on the 7970 as I've seen them on sale a few times.

I'm only using 1080p , I will be giving eyefinity a go a some point though . They are both on offer at the moment the HIS hd 7950 is £234 and the HIS hd 7970 IceQ X2 is £324 . So both great deals , and both are reference pcb's , but blue . Nothing a backplate can't hide .

Well I made my mind up, Iv'e got a lovely new HIS hd 7950 ordered as well as the block. Cheers for the help mate.

I will do mate . The card is coming tomorrow, but the cooling bits and bobs, well not tomorrow. I won't go into a not so special shop, and the ins and out, lets just say i'm fuming. If all goes well Thursday.
