Is the CM Storm Stryker quiet?

Hi,

Is the Stryker nice and quiet?
I like the look of it and need a quiet case.
I'll be replacing the very quiet RV02.
(I'll be aircooling)

update - 13-04-13

I assume it's very loud then?

Yeah, I suppose it is mostly that simple isn't it?

I'm hoping the stock fans are pretty quiet.
The RV02 has closed drive bay vents and the Stryker looks really nice in comparison, but it has more open areas where the sound can come out.

My original case Xaser III came with like 7 fans which after a few years ended up being rather noisy and I never bothered to replace the fans.

Then along came the RV02, replaced the top fan with an NF-P12 and it's been almost whisper quiet.

Hopefully the Stryker can end up just as quiet.

I wonder if any Stryker owners have an opinion on this and experienced any noticable differences for any reason.

Anyway, cheers.

Yeah - I was watching the Orca - Complete video on YouTube and posted about this an hour ago on there.

Cheers Tom. Much respect mate.

ps: I live in Japan where apartments are made of wood or at least not brick (earthquake capital), so you sometimes can hear neighbours if they sneeze. So everyone naturally tries to be as quiet as possible. I want to keep my often overnight running PC quiet too.

That's right. With any make there will always be differences regardless of the quality of fans we can use. Some panels are thicker than others. More vents potentially let out more noise, looser dust covers could potentially vibrate (although that's stretching it), some HDD trays have rubber grommets to absorb vibration and some don't. A few things like this. Of course many of us like to tinker, so it's enjoyable trying to modify stuff anyway. I like the Stryker. I'm holding off until I see the latest Silverstone cases (in the flesh) in the next couple of months. Cheers.

Well that's not entirely true, cases with sound dampening are going to be quieter.

Agreed to an extent. I built my mate a PC in an R3 a while ago, and I didn't actually think it made much difference at all tbh.
Also, considering to maintain the same temps, you need to have fans running faster in padded cases, I think it kind of counters any padding it has.

I'd rather just stick to proper undampened cases and run fans quieter to start with.

The sound deadening foam is only really there to absorb noise such as hard drive crunching.

Which of course doesn't do much if you're using an SSD as your boot drive.

Not only that but modern hard drives are very quiet any way so it is a little bit pointless. Mind you, all the time you're using spinning drives I guess it is doing something.

Cheers. It's nice to have plenty of your videos on YouTube for reference.

Tom,

After reviewing the RV03 would you say that it's big enough for a UP7, 2 non reference Sapphire 7970s and a sound card?

Cheers
