Hello again sorry to bother you

AFAIK SSD's dont have moving parts. yet mine clicks constantly and if playing a game when it does "click" the game stutters.

is my SSD faulty?

Crucial M4 256GB new version bought last week

I've never heard of that before.
Are you sure it's plugged in properly? and are you sure it's the SSD?

I can't imagine they have enough power going through them to cause an electrical click that's audible, and as you say it doesn't have any moving parts.

yes im 100% sure it is the SSD, i was holding it and feeling something every time the noise happened.

I'll do some more goggling and ask some questions when customer services actually opens, i hate the weekend sometimes :P

If you have a Crucial M4 SSD, it is physically impossible for it to "click" or "jolt." If, like the post above says, you have a hard drive nearby, then there is your problem. It is possible that for some reason your RAM is caching to a hard drive (assuming you have one too), but you would have had to manually change the Page location.

I too have experienced the SSD click. My vertex 4 does it, it dosent cause me any trouble when it does it though.

I have always wondered what it might be...

Can you record it in a video? Are you sure it's not grounding and speakers related?

I don't try to be funny hear, but having opened a lot of those drives, there is not even a single coil in them, to make such a noise. It strikes me as IMPOSIBRRUUU :D

Dont suppose you have another drive you can substitute into the machine for a test? If the stuttering in games and noise goes away with another SSD or even a HDD attached then you will at least know for sure if the SSD is causing one/both of these.

Try these
1. a nearby HDD is doing the clicking and the vibrations are traveling through the frame of the case.
2 Check the physical connections to all drives, at both ends, including optical drives.
3. Disconnect all drives but the SSD and see if it still clicks.
4, Check any fans, including the PSU.
5. Put the SSD in another machine and see if it still does it.

is it possible that if the SSD is doing the clicking that it's being over/under volted? or is just plain defective? Is it still under warrantee in case it is defective?
