I removed the IHS and im at 3.05ghz, 1.52vcore, and now and im idling at 42 and load at 53. Is it just that I have a hot opteron?

what hsf are u using ???

have you reseated the hsf ? what thermal paste ? is ur hsf making a

good contact with ur proc ? msg me on aim/msn/yahoo if u have any . my ids are on my profile. ill help if i can .

Using a TT BT, and yes i am making good contact because i bolted it down pretty tight, and im afraid of making it tighter. Using AS-5.

Ill remount it, just it in case, and Ill see if it drops.

After remounting, its really the same. It was in the thirtys for about 2 minutes, then went abck to normal.

What stepping is it? I know the CCB1Es and the CCBBEs seem to run a little hotter than others. There are a few others also.

Well, at load it goes up to 47-50 at 1.53vcore. Before it would go to 55-61, and that was at 1.4vcore. So removing it did help.

its a CACJE

My memory sucks :banghead:

Nice sPI time, man!!

Doesn't nF4 stock at 1.5v and not 1.6v? According to MBM5 yours is around 1.6v.. ?

Speacial vid control is at 110%, the actual vid control is at 1.425.

Are you talking about vCore? I know some boards do stop at about 1.55vCore. However DFI boards allow you to use Special Vid Control. The max without it is 1.55 but on the non expert boards you can do 104, 110, 113, 123, 126, 133, and 136% of that value. It allows for serious tweaking on the vCore. The expert and venus are even more in depth than that with more options.

Nonono guys, he's talking about the chipset voltage ;)

Anyways, friggin nice OC there! Technically you may have just taken away the record from Jim... Push a little more and enlarge the gap and totally establish yourself! :D Woot woot! :worship:

Yes very nice OC mate. On par with me speed wise. What's your memory running at? I'm running 1:1 which could possibly be why i have a 2sec advantage over you on SPI.

He's got 2GB OCZ Plat which is absolute crap for OCing. You already replied to the other thread so you know he's looking at some UCCC. Personally, I don't think he has much of a chance at beating your SP score just by virtue of you having insanely fast 2x512mb RAM. Still, if he pushes a bit more, he could take you down as far as CPU speed goes :D (on air too ;))

Well it depends on if you just want SPI 1m stable ;) My chips got plenty more left for some 1m/suicide shots ;)

Man you guys are making me want to put in my good ol' bh5 in and work on some 4x512mb oc's. Gonna have to go pull it out and start messing around with it some. This is where it will be nice to have Frag's cooling bracket over the ram. I know with 2x512 it was really hot but 4 will be even hotter. Thanks Frag :)

I'm meaning totally stable :) (though he hasn't reported any stability stuff yet)

Ran 3dmark05 and 06 wihtout problems, ran prime for an hour but shut it off cuz I was tired and went to bed. Removing the ihs definitly helped. Loads at 46-48, idles at 37-39. I put it back down to 3.01 just because my memory was too slow (at 222mhz, 3-4-4-11)

Just one more question, I applied AS-5 on the core (of course), and that spreads, im thinking that its gonna get all over the pcb and the capacitors, is this a problem?

how much AS5 did you use ?? Most ppl put a small rice grain sized drop. It wont run and get on ur pcb. Put ur memory back to 2-3-2-5 timings if u want to get a better superpi time. Those timings will kill you , and also the Tras of 11 was good on NF2 , not on NF4 , u need 7 or 8 on NF4s .

With a naked core you are probably better spreading the as5 over the core using a blade rather than putting a blob on.

Well, I didnt spread it, cuz I thought that it was gonna spread, so i put a big blob on being the genius that I am. Im just worried that one day my cpu wont work because its full of AS-5.

A pea-sized blob should only really be used for a chip with an ihs.

I'd clean the as5 thats on there off and spread a little on the core with a razor blade.

AS5 isn't very conductive - bit it still has some conductivity, so it _could_ cause problems. If you're really worried, use ceramique, which is on-par with as5 performance wise.
